The swans ring the bell to be fed at the Bishop’s Palace, Wells, Somerset.

The tradition of Swans on the Moat at The Bishop’s Palace( adjacent to Wells Cathedral) goes back to 1870’s when one of Bishop Hervey’s daughters first taught the swans to ring a bell at the Gatehouse for for lunch to be fed to them by the caretakers who live in the gatehouse. You can see the bell just beneath the window of the Gatehouse, with a rope hanging down for the swans to pull.
New generations of swans learn to ring the bell from their parents ..

The grey-headed flying fox (Pteropus poliocephalus) is distinguished from other flying fox species in Australia by its reddish-brown collar which separates its light-grey head from its dark-grey body. After birth, young flying foxes will cling to their mothers for 3 weeks as they go foraging.

The blue-footed b***y usually lays one to three eggs at a time. The species practices asynchronous hatching, in contrast to many other species whereby incubation begins when the last egg is laid and all chicks hatch together. This results in a growth inequality and size disparity between siblings, leading to facultative siblicide in times of food scarcity. This makes the blue-footed b***y an important model for studying parent–offspring conflict and sibling rivalry.

Once a match is made, the pair will often remain together for life.

A massive flock of Flamingos at Lake Bogoria in Kenya.
Every year the lakes of Kenya become packed with one of the largest populations of flamingo in the world - leading it to be dubbed 'Flamingo City' by visitors. The area around the lakes turns a spectacular shade of pink as an incredibly large number of flamingos - thought to be between 1.5 and 2 million individuals - gather to breed. The region is so popular with the birds because of the huge amount of algae which grows due to the shallow depth of the water and the intense sunlight.
This magnificent shot was captured by photographer Steve Garvie who visited the site while on a holiday with his family, and was utterly stunned by the awesome sight he witnessed.

Agnes is currently working with two communities in Jakarta and Bali. The piece MOUNTAIN is 1 of 3 pieces in a series for Locca Beach House Bali in the Jimbaran area, interpreting the surrounding site through knots and manila rope.
