KALENJIN PROVERB
MAKIPEEGUNEN SOOIN NG'UONIN PUCH KOTOM KECHAMCHAM
Direct translation - Do not assume black night shade sourness without tasting.
Literary translation - Never assume that black night shade vegetables are sour even before you taste them.
Meaning - It is not good to guess or conclude that someone is harsh, stupid, rude, mean, unapproachable or all other negative attributes before you engage them. Some people may be the opposite of what you guess and can be productive to a course. It is good to interact and engage with someone before you conclude what they are inwardly.
Application - This proverb is used while planning to approach someone for assistance for the first time. It is also used to praise someone who turned out to be good, generous, intelligent after engaging with them.
