Appreciation post! As I look back over the past few months, I’m moved to mention how grateful I am for the loving and spirited humans that are our children.

The summer provided lots of adventures as we traveled across Europe and A&V attended their first sleepaway camp in my mother’s homeland of Slovenia.

After returning from travels, A&V took up a new sport, capoeira, a form of Brazilian martial arts

We feel so fortunate to have found our way to these two organizations, which both uphold the values of connection and community, where A&V can be challenged and supported in new ways. 🙏❤️🏕️🇸🇮🥋🇧🇷

"Bloom where you are planted," reads the inscription in my Planner.

I’ve been reflecting on this all month. Being someone who has moved a lot, finding a way to bloom where planted is a skill I have consciously nurtured. It's not always as easy as it sounds. Some plants won't thrive if the soil is unsuitable or the climate is not conducive. It’s rare to find a place that is “just right.”

My meditation on this topic led me to attempt cultivating fiddle leaf figs (ficus lyrata). First, I snipped a few stems from the tree in my office. Then I dipped them in root growth hormone and placed them in water by the window.

This is the first time I’ve tried to do this. Any hints, tips, or hacks would be appreciated!

I will post an update if/when this little experiment succeeds or fails!

My hubby and I recently had the privilege of attending a screening of the first episode from the “Algiers, America” series at the New Orleans Film Festival. Today, announced that Algiers, America earned the coveted Audience Award for Best Spotlight Documentary in the festival! Congratulations to and his hardworking team of filmmakers documenting the football team . The series streams on starting 2023 👏 👏 👏
