I quit FIFO due to anxiety and then suffered from depression for a while after as I felt I couldn’t give my family the life they deserved.
When I realised that all they wanted was me, that all changed for the better.
My kids have never asked me how much money I make and I’ve never heard someone that’s retired wished they worked more.

It’s time to take the pressure off yourself.

This tree is 2.5 km from my home. It’s on a flat easy trail I run on my 5k easy days. I tap the leaves before heading back home.

I’ve aptly named it the halfway tree.

Well that’s a wrap for 2023.
I just wanted to say thanks for all of my guests for the past year for joining me on the show. I’d also like to send out my gratitude to all my listeners for your on going support.

I didn’t get as many episodes out as I would have liked over the year but there’s plenty of plans for 2024.

I did get some goals achieved with the addition of video episodes on as well as adding some personal shares via my new account.

Thanks again everyone for tuning in and I look forward to seeing you all again next year. I hope you chase down your goals in 2024 and start the year strong as you mean to go on.

I’ve got some more goals for next year too which I’ll share with you soon.

Wishing you growth and happiness for the new year.

Shout out the legendary craftsmanship for creating the signage on my new venture.

The sign work on the shoe rack was the cherry on top and I’m stoked to have Erik’s work involved in my new business.

2023 v 2022 👉🏽 same place.

Lighter and stronger hitting the same jump.

Nothing major but I’m noticing a huge difference in my performance on the trails as the journey moves forward.

Every Friday I buy a good coffee on my way to work.
It’s a nice way to round off the week, especially sharing smiles with the crew at my regular café

When I used to work away I’d always wear my blue uniform on the last day of work (pre hi vis days) and the first music I’d listen to on the plane was

This would always help me transition from work into home mode. It was nice just to have a little something just for me to look forward to as well.

Sometimes just the little things can make a difference.

This week I sit down with the incredibly talented singer/songwriter
For most of you who know Michael as a musician you may not know that he's also an accomplished runner with a recent podium at the international event, 85k.

I got to know Mike more as we conversed about him being on the show over a few months and the more we talked the more I know he would be a great guest for the show. An easy person the speak to who has a calming persona which flows into his music and no doubt the people around him.

During Covid while music touring was on hold Michael started up running again and decided to aim for a few outstanding family records set by his dad. This would then turn into something he falls in love with as he begins to discover trail running for all that it is.

Michael meditates and practices mindfulness which in turn helps his running as it does in his life, reminding him to live in the now and be present. We can never say enough that what we learn from running can directly transcend into how we approach life and Mike seems to do it all so well with the extra element of peacefulness and gratitude to go along with pushing your boundaries, personal growth and resilience.

Super grateful to be sharing this one with you and for having the opportunity to be doing this and meeting new friends like Michael.

I think you'll enjoy it too.

Saturday 5am start.

Why?

So I could get a solid 75 min trail run in before my family wakes up.

It’s also been warmer than usual for this time of year so I wanted to beat the heat and not worry about the sun too much.

Conditions were great and greeting the sunrise while I was up in the hills was a nice way to start the day.

Happy Saturday everyone.

One thing I’ve learned as I regain my fitness is that a short easy run is better than not going at all.

My legs are still recovering from a strength workout yesterday as I start to pick up my training. A while back I wouldn’t have gone as I don’t normally enjoy road running let alone see any value in a 3-4K run.

It’s not so much that I’m learning but this time around I’m doing the things I know I should be doing, stretching more, doing a short easy run, resting and more strength work.

It’s a great road of always learning so I can run and be life capable for years to come.

2023 Cape Trail Half Marathon (unofficial) done.
I didn’t train and was not prepared at all but got it done all the same.
Nothing like an impromptu half marathon for your Sunday.
Well done to all who joined.
Thanks to Lee and Heather for making it happen.

Have you ever dreamt of what could be possible if we took a leap of faith? To start something that we've always wanted to do but the fear of the unknown stops us?

We are capable of much more than we think.

We all have our comfort zones we like to stay inside that keeps us feeling safe. But what if every once in a while we stepped outside that bubble and experienced life on the other side?

For this episode I'm joined by James Brougham from and we chat about what life can be like if we let go of some of the fears that can keep us where we are.

James decided to pack up his life, buy a yacht and sail around with his 2 young daughters, ditching the ordinary life for an extraordinary one. Having not a great deal of experience in sailing, that thought alone would stop most people, but James pushed through to discover the rewards of life on his terms. We chat about how ultra running helped give him a mindset that helped prepare for the unknown and how to endure mentally for the unexpected hurdles we all face in life.

James and his girls are a story of adventure and resilience. From crawling through mangroves for mud crabs to spearfishing and running with his girls in a wheelbarrow, James is a great inspiration of what can be done if you show up every day and make things happen.

So tune in and get inspired to do something you've always wanted to do but have never started due to the unknown. Sometimes facing that fear of the unknown can open a door to so much more.

I'm truely humbled to have the chance to sit down and talk with renowned astronomer Greg Quicke aka

While "Quickie" was in town during the 2023 total solar eclipse he dropped in to chat about his practical approach to the stars and how we can see the world turn in real time.

Well known for working with the BBC on the 'Stargazers' series and hosting his own series on the ABC, 'A Stargazers Guide to the Cosmos', Greg's life experiences have given him a practical view of the earth and space which he shares with his audiences in a way they can see and understand for themselves.

Greg's also written 2 books with his first publishing 'Earth Turning Consciousness' that inspired his ABC series and 'Is the Moon Upside Down?'

On top of all of that, Greg owns and runs Greg Quicke's Astro Tours in Broome WA where he shows people how to see how our native planet exists and revolves in and around our galaxy.

Episode 27 is out now.
