⚠️WARNING: SAD POST⚠️ (and long)
Anyone who pays attention to my page knows our family welcomed a new dog back in February. Sunny, an English Cream Golden Retriever. What I didn’t post was when we took him to our family vet for his puppy visit, the vet found he had a grade 3 heart murmur. Unfortunately that is considered aggressive for a puppy the age of Sunny. The vet said his lungs were clear of fluid and did not feel at that time that it required any medication. There are no surgery options for dogs with murmurs. In fact, going under anesthesia could be fatal to him. We scheduled a checkup for 4 weeks, and then would proceed to schedule him with a cardiologist at that point to discuss further treatment. Sunny showed no signs of distress, labored breathing, fatigue… anything. You would have never known he was just diagnosed with a serious heart condition. I contacted the breeder at that point and they said that no other pups from his litter had encountered this issue. By law, they were responsible for either taking the puppy back and refunding us, or replacing him. Of course replacing him wasn’t an option so they agreed to pay for his next vet appt. Fast forward 4 weeks to March 28… the night before his vet appointment, we let Siren and Sunny outside to potty around 9pm. After a few minutes Siren returned, but Sunny didn’t. Unfortunately in the 5-8 mins the dogs were outside, Sunny suffered a cardiac event and passed away. To say our family was and still are devastated is an understatement. He was such a happy, spunky, loving boy. It isn’t fair that that he only spent 4 months on this earth, and only five weeks with our family. But I know he had the best 5 weeks and was loved so very much. I may not understand why this happened, but I know that Sunny was meant to find us and live his little life with us. And now he will always be our Sunshine ☀️ in the sky. 🩵

Going from Every 4 Weeks to now is a milestone I didn’t know if I would see. Instead of Every 4 weeks, the labs are now only Every 6 months. Now that is SUCCESS 💪🏼🎗️🧡
