CREW CALL!

Sommer Camp Productions is gearing up for its 2nd film, Vampyre, and is now open for all pre-production and production areas. Vampyre is a feature-length film we intend to submit to film festivals in spring 2023, with the intention of a full release in the summer of 2023. All production will be shot in Portland, Oregon.

*Please note that we are looking to begin production in late fall.

About Vampyre:
Inspired by old black and white film, Vampyre is a horror movie set in the late 1930s, following a Black blues band traveling the US who receives a mysterious letter and cash in advance to perform at a secluded lounge in the mountains of Oregon. The band is skeptical of the random offer but travels west against their better judgment. Shortly after their arrival, band members begin to disappear.

As an Indigo child, Sommer was quiet, reflective, and highly empathetic--and often mislabeled as shy. The truth was, she found it challenging to navigate a world where her personality was not represented. In response, she spent many evenings secluded in her family room, connecting to TV, seeking an understanding of self. To most, it would appear to be a melancholy, lonely existence, or even a cry for help, but it wasn't. She found purpose and peace in the night.

Meet Tiara Darnel, Executive Producer for

Tiara Darnell is a traveling audio maven—a producer, and story and tape editor creating award-winning content remotely from the places that inspire her.

Most recently, she produced chart-topping original podcasts for Spotify, including hit comedy podcast, Nosy Neighbors (with comedians, Candice Thompson & Chinedu Unaka), financial wellness show, Mind Body Wealth with Lauren Simmons, the youngest person to ever trade on the NYSE, and s*x & relationship extravaganza, We Said What We Said with (viral social media influencers) Rickey Thompson & Denzel Dion.

Beyond Spotify, her freelance passion projects include two seasons of NATAL, a Kellog grant-funded podcast about having a baby while Black in the U.S. (editor, producer scriptwriter), and High, Good People, a Society of Professional Journalist award-winning podcast about the relationships between people of color and cannabis in the new age of legalization (host, creator, producer, editor, sound designer--she did it all!).

Tiara is also a freelance writer; She's published words about entrepreneurs of color, cannabis & psychedelics, critical race theory (don't @ her!), food & entertainment, travel, and health & wellness. Her bylines include Vogue, Willamette Week, Portland Monthly, Travel Portland, and more. When she's not writing or podcasting, she's probably cooking and hanging with friends, or booking her next trip.

From film direction to photography, she has a pattern of showcasing socially important stories and issues from communities of which she is a part.

And with an honest and authentic commitment to representation above and below the line, all her crews feature; women, people of color, and L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+ persons in leadership positions.

Meet star Falynn Victoria Burton who plays Vanessa.

Falynn Victoria Burton was born in Detroit, MI. She got bit by the acting bug in high school where she developed her love for portraying interesting and zany characters. She has a Bachelors from Wayne State University where she was honored to be cast in such roles as 'Soujorner Truth' in A Woman Called Truth. While in Chicago she was cast as ‘Mrs.Muller’ in “Doubt”. Her first professional show in Portland was Hurl at Corrib Theatre. She also completed her LORT LAB for PAC in which she was cast as ‘Love’ in the Artist Repertory Theatre production of Everybody.
