The Mid-Autumn Festival (Tết Trung Thu in Vietnamese), also known as the Moon Festival, is a traditional festival in Vietnam. 🇻🇳

It takes place on the 15th of August (the lunar calendar), which means tomorrow Sept 29 according to the solar calendar. But we already started celebrating it today. 🎉

Different from the lunar new year, we celebrate Tết Trung Thu a bit calmer. We eat moon cakes, drink some tea and take our time to enjoy the beauty of the full moon.

For children, this festival is a thing. They go out to join lion dances with toy drums and lanterns. When I was a child, I always loved making lanterns myself. Then brought it to see all of my friends in town, ate cakes, and candies, and enjoyed the party. 🥳🥳🥳

I was visiting Trang An, Ninh Binh under the rain, alone. Surprisingly, there were many tourists like me, discovering the stunning landscape in raincoats and non la. ⛈️

I happened to be in the same boat as these friends. They come from different countries: England, Netherlands, and Germany. It was random, but so cool.

Together, we discovered Trang An under the rain. I was an unofficial translator between them and the boatwoman. There were small stories from each of us and giggles. Such a nice memory! They might never know this photo would be posted here today.

Of course, I prefer sunny days. However, visiting caves and discovering nature on the boat under layers of fog and rain, it’s mysterious and unforgettable. 😎

While street bicycles sell fruits and vegetables everywhere in cities, people in Mekong Delta use boats to move and trade goods. Almost products sold here are local and very cheap. With just 1 euro, you can buy 2 fresh and yummy pineapples.

This is Bánh Thuẫn (Thuan Cake)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Bánh Thuẫn is a traditional cake to treat guests during the Tet holidays in Central, Vietnam 🇻🇳
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
About 5-6 days before Tet, people here are bustling to make Bánh Thuẫn. The main ingredients of this cake are very simple, just flour, eggs, and sugar. Then it's slowly grilled in a mold made of cast iron or copper.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When Bánh Thuẫn is cooked, the amazing smell runs and dances happily everywhere. We call it "the smell of Tet" 🎉
