The Great Green Wall for the Sahara and the Sahel Initiative (GGWSSI) is a pan-African programme launched in 2007 by the African Union with a goal is to reverse land degradation and desertification in the Sahel and Sahara, boost food security and support local communities to adapt to climate change. We are joined by Elvis Paul Tangem PhD, Coordinator of the GGWSSI to explore how far can the initiative offer the deserved resilience in the dry lands of Africa? What are its approaches to sustainability and opportunities for African countries? And how should individuals, communities, organizations and governments get involved to take action?
