A Passion for Games and the Drive to Be at the Top
It all began in 2012 when I walked into my brothers room to see what he was so busy doing. Turns out, he was playing League of Legends. To me it was unheard of and to him it was brand new. I became intrigued when he started scrolling through the champion store. Kennen’s old splash art was the first thing that caught my attention and gave me the want to find out more. This was the beginning of my journey.
Soon after I downloaded the game on my HP touchscreen monitor/computer hybrid. I was hooked immediately. Just an innocent Amumu/Malphite main, I roamed the jungles of Twisted Treeline day in and day out. I was “too afraid” to play Summoners Rift because I thought it was a scary game mode only for the best players. Later I found out I was wrong, but in the meantime I studied the territory I knew best. I didn’t try ranked until the year after, and even then, I didn’t play it much. This changed around 2014 when I started playing a bit more and realized that competition is something I love. After hitting platinum that season, I decided I want to put a little more time in here and there to be extra competitive and since then I have always been diamond! “If this is something I’m actually good at, how good can I be? Can I be the best? How many games can I be good at? How much can I learn?” All of these thoughts and more started to flow through me. So what did I do? I played. I studied games. I played and studied games. I studied and played games. I did it all backwards and forwards, top to bottom, and even then I would still ask myself, “but what am I missing?” Over the years I branched out and tested my limits in a huge variety of games. I got MGE in CSGO, rank 2 in Hearthstone, rank 540 in PUBG Solo FPP and rank 842 in Squad FPP, and last but definitely not least, Challenger in TFT! All of this and I’m not close to done. I’m still playing every day, the only difference is, I’m now here to share it with you!
A lot of people’s most common questions are “how do I play better?” and “how do I learn when I don’t know anything?” It may sound unhelpful, but the best answer is just play. Skill is a direct reflection of effort, so if you want to play well, play a lot! Have fun and enjoy yourself! Play all day when you have time and think about it when you don’t have time. Ask questions! Ask me and ask yourself, it’s really really important. “How could I have done that better?” “What do better players do that I don’t, and why?” You can be as good or knowledgeable about anything you want if you take some time with it, you got this!
