..Promises to change the health sector in six months
..Commissions Andoni section of Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo Unity Road after 24 years
..Approves extension of Ngo road to Oyorokoto

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has said that the Rivers State health sector performed below the benchmark of the Nigeria Governors Forum assessment report released recently.

Governor Fubara who spoke at the commissioning of the Andoni section of the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo Unity Road on Saturday, noted that the report which is for a period before his administration justifies why his government is passionate about education, healthcare and agriculture.

"We know that we must have done other things, but those key sectors have not been adequately attended to. So, we promise our people that in the next six months there will be a total change in the health sector of our state."

While acknowledging the efforts of those who initiated the unity road which includes Sir Dr. Peter Odili, the governor stated that the most important thing is that after 24 years the section of the road that connects the Andoni people to the rest of other local government areas such as Khana and Opobo/Nkoro has become a reality, adding that the cost for the road project has been fully paid without owing the contractor.

Governor Fubara thanked the people of Andoni for their support right from the electioneering time till date and announced the immediate extension of the road project from Ngo town to Oyorokoto a popular fishing community in Andoni Local Government Area.

"I am also aware that we have other issues in the other communities in Andoni. Some of them are flooding issues which is even the most critical issue. We are going to do something about it."

The governor further asked the people to continue to support the federal government especially in protecting the economic resources in their area.

"I am happy when our leader mentioned the activities of oil wells here without interruptions. I was impressed by it. It shows that we are contributing and understand the meaning of peace."

He charged the people to continue to show good faith in the governance of the country as the success of the centre will definitely translate to the successes of the states and local government areas.

In his description of the project, the Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Works, Engr Atamea Briggs applauded the governor for completing the Andoni section of the unity road which has taken several years to build.

He said the 27.52 kilometers road with three bridges was re-awarded to Monier Construction Company Limited in July 2023 and completed within 5 months with the entire revised cost of N11.1billion paid to the contractor without any debt.

On his part the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Monier Construction Company Limited, Senator John Azuta Mbata commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for giving the company the opportunity to carryout the road project and also thanked the communities for their support to complete the road.

Earlier, the member representing the Andoni and Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Awajinombek Abiante in his welcome address commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for having the interest of the people at heart which necessitated his completing the Andoni section of the unity road.

He expressed joy that after 24 years the people of Andoni can now drive to Ngo town and further pleaded with the governor to extend his developmental strides to other parts of the local government area especially taking the road to Oyorokoto a major fishing community in the state.

Also speaking, a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party and an indigene of the area, Prince Uche Secondus thanked the governor for his commitment in completing the road and paid glowing tribute to Sir Dr Peter Odili for initiating the unity road that has finally got to Ngo town, the headquarters of the Andoni Local Government Area.

He pleaded for more development in the area especially as the LGA hosts several oil wells that contribute to the wealth of the nation without interruptions by the people.

I am Ufikairo Warder an indigene of Ibot-irem Town also a member of the National Union Of Andoni Students (NUAS).
Haven't closedly observed the personalities vying for the office of the National President NUAS, I conscientiously endorsed Comrd. Ifuk Festus Oguichen.
Why the endorsement?
I have carefully studied, observed and as well learnt that he is a man of truth, sincerity, God fearing, and peace loving.
May I also crave it to your indulgence that Ifuk Festus Oguichen is the man NUAS would need at the moment that our oldest Union is greeted with lots of challenges.
Ifuk Festus Oguichen to me is a man with heart of gold to turn things around.
Why He is capable?
Ifuk Festus Oguichen is one of the youngest and most successful entrepreneurer in Andoni Local Government who hailed from Ibot-irem Town. He is currently an employer of workers in the OFI's Communication Company. He is the CEO of OFI's Communication Company.
With his achievements so far I guess he is the right man who can support NUAS with little or more of his achieved wealth.
Let's give him our support to restructure NUAS in the position it ought to be. Let's help him restore the lost glory of our oldest Union in the Niger Delta region NUAS.

OYC RE-RAISES CONCERN OVER THE INSECURITY IN ANDONI.

The Obolo Youth Coalition (OYC) has again added her voice to the decries over the insecurity in Andoni LGA with emphasis on the latest abduction of two Police Officers and a civilian in the area of which until date there is no any official press statement from a seating lga chairman on the process so far, keeping the entire nation in dark upon the allegation from the police man’s wife.

The Coalition speaking through it’s President General, Hon. Ijonama Mkpon Amon, expresses surprise on the inability of the security agencies, particularly, the Nigerian Police to unravel and expose the cause of the condemnable acts including the freedom of the abductees.

More worrying, the OYC no. 1 citizen said, is the unyielded efforts of the responsive agencies to pressurize the prime suspect of the crime, the executive Chairman of the Andoni L.G.A. Mr. Lawrence Paul Lawrence (a.k.a. Stainless) to heed to their invitations to respond to the allegations raised against him in a verifiable voice conversation between the wife of one of the abducted Police Officers and the abducttors.
The general public should note that the said Andoni LGA boss is currently ruining after multi national operating in the area over 3months without stepping a foot at the council headquarter, with an impression that he is the chief security officer of the area, demanding for surveillance contract , could it be that his definition of chief security officer is only in the area of company but not to protect lives and properties?.

The president Describes such attitude as unacceptable and further said that the intentional refusal of the Mr. Chairman is implicating and deformable and therefore, advises him to erase these doubts by visiting the security agencies to clarify issues that are denting to his official personality as this portends dangerous prognosis for the Obolo speaking L.G.A. if he must sustain his continuous stay in office.
In addition to this official aberration, the said Andoni L.G.A. Boss has displayed a lot of official ineptitude by exposing official information due to his inability to understand in black and white, thereby depending on even unofficial personalities for knowledge, including signing official documents unwarrantably still due to his unlettered state and many more.

But negligently, the Council Boss hitherto has not refrained from his incessant movements from one company to the other, mobilizing aggrieved unknown youths to cause crisis among the companies operating in Andoni, in an attempts to woo personal contracts to add to his already running surveillance contract with green energy that worth 7million naira only which is one of his major channels in causing disintegration and division among the constituted traditional authorities in the area and all these he refuses to understand as economy sabotage to the federal government of Nigeria.

These, the organization president views as abandonment of official responsibilities for frivolities.

Sequel to the ongoing, the OYC reiterates it’s call on Mr. Lawrence Paul Lawrence (a.k.a. Stainless) to resign from the Office owing to his gross administrative incompetence in office and misconduct.

This call by the OYC also extends to the executive Governor of Rivers State Chief Barr. E.N. Wike to facilitate a speedy process and send Mr. Lawrence Paul Lawrence out of the Andoni political apex office to give the Obolo people in Rivers State a political relief.

Finally, the result-oriented President General advises the people of Andoni to remain peaceful with an invigorated security vigilance while the entire youths will continue to defend the interests of our people.
