: 12-YEAR OLD GIRL SERIOUSLY HURT AFTER BEING HIT BY CAR THAT LEFT SCENE IN ERDINGTON

For context: the incident was near the entrance to Gravelly Industrial Estate, on the side going towards Chester Road.

West Midlands Police statement:
"A 12-year-old girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car which failed to stop on Tyburn Road just after 7.30am this morning.

"Thankfully her injuries are not life-threatening but could be life changing.

"The driver of the car returned to the scene after being traced by officers and has been given a notice of intended prosecution for careless driving.

"We are grateful to members of the public who assisted the young girl until emergency services arrived."

Officialwmas said:
“We were called at 7.43am to a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Tyburn Road in Birmingham.

"One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a child who was the pedestrian.

"She was assessed and had sustained serious injuries. She received treatment at the scene and was conveyed to Birmingham Childrens Hospital under emergency blue light conditions for further assessment.”

Harborne Crash Update

West Midlands Police have issued an update about a fatal crash on Lordswood Road in Harborne on Monday morning.

They said:
"An elderly woman has sadly died after being hit by a delivery van just before midday on Lordswood Road, Harborne.

The delivery driver stopped at the scene and is helping us with our enquiries.

BREAKING NEWS: Woman dies after being hit by van in Harborne before lunchtime on Monday.

Statement from Officialwmas:

A woman has died following an RTC in Birmingham this morning.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Lordswood Road in Harborne at 11.40am and sent two ambulances, two paramedic officers and a MERIT trauma doctor with a Critical Care Paramedic, to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival crews discovered one patient, a woman, who was the pedestrian.

“She was found to have suffered serious injuries in the collision and ambulance crews immediately began administering specialist trauma care.

“However, despite their best efforts it sadly became apparent nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed dead at the scene.”

SIXTY FIREFIGHTERS BATTLE BLAZE AT KINGSTANDING PLASTICS FACTORY FIRE

Shortly after 8.20am on Wednesday (27 December), we responded to a fire at a factory unit on Shady Lane, in the Queslett area of Birmingham.

Twelve fire engines, three 4×4 brigade response vehicles, and a hydraulic aerial platform are currently in attendance, crewed by around sixty firefighters.

This is a significant fire in a single-storey unit.

There have been no reported casualties at this time.

Colleagues from West Midlands Police are also in attendance, assisting with traffic measures. Shady Lane is closed and local bus routes will be affected as we work at the scene.

If your home or workplace is affected by the smoke plume, please keep your doors and windows closed.

| We are investigating after two women tragically died following a collision in Shard End.

We were called to the junction of Kitt's Green Road, and Mackadown Lane, shortly after 8pm last night (26 Dec) following a collision involving a BMW 4 Series, a MG ZS and a quad bike.

Sadly, two passengers from the MG - one aged in her 40s and one in her 70s - were pronounced dead at the scene.

Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this devastating time and we’ll be offering as much support as we can.

Four other people – including a young child – were taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the BMW left the scene but a short time later a man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is currently in hospital and will be spoken to when deemed medically fit to be questioned.

Another man has also been arrested for assisting an offender and is currently in custody for questioning.

The quad bike also left the scene and we’re carrying out enquiries to identify and trace the rider.

Det Sgt Julie Lyman, from our serious collision investigation unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the families who have been affected by this awful collision. It remains vital that we fully establish exactly what happened with all the vehicles involved, so I’d ask the rider of the quad bike to get in touch as I believe you are a key witness to the tragic events which have occurred.”

| We're appealing for witnesses and information after a woman sadly died following a collision in Aston.

We were called after a woman was hit by a car on Witton Lane, near the junction of Aston Hall Road, at just before 9am yesterday (21 December).

The woman, aged in her 40s, was taken to hospital but tragically later died.

Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this devastating time and we'll be offering all the support we can.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been bailed while our enquiries continue.

We remain keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the silver Chrysler 300C just prior to the collision.

We are particularly interested in speaking to anybody who has dashcam footage.

Police recover shotgun after shooting near the A38. A cannabis factory was also discovered. Three cars could be seen smashed up on the street within the police cordon.

Police have arrested a man and recovered a shotgun after reports of a gunshot on Montague Road, Erdington on Thursday night (14th December) around 10:15pm.

The M6 Southbound has been closed between J4 (Coleshill) and J3 (Coventry) on Thursday evening since around 5:30PM, due to a serious police incident. It is being led by Warwickshire Police.

The incident is understood to have happened around Corley Services with around three miles of traffic trapped within the closure.

Update: 19:10 - Trapped traffic is being directed through Corley Services to get around the incident.

A woman has died after a crash involving two BMWs, one a taxi carrying passengers, on Highgate Road in Sparkbrook early Sunday morning.

The taxi driver suffered serious injuries. Three of his passengers were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Handsworth-born poet, novelist and playwright Benjamin Zephaniah has died aged 65 💔

It is with great sadness we can announce that Benjamin passed away during the early hours of Thursday, 7th December, after a recently diagnosed brain tumour.

The man has been safely removed from the roof of the Town Hall car park between New Street Station and The Mailbox, West Midlands Police have confirmed.

All roads have been re-opened and the car park is now fully accessible again.

NEGOTIATOR AT SCENE OF MAN ON CAR PARK ROOF

A large section of the city centre between New Street and the Mailbox remains shut Wednesday evening, after an incident which has been ongoing since mid-afternoon.

Police confirm they have been attending to a situation with a man on the roof-level of a car park on Brunel Street since 3:30PM. A specialist negotiator is helping at the scene.

People have been gradually allowed to enter the Town Hall car park to get to their vehicles, level-by-level throughout the evening. Cars leaving have been escorted by police through the scene.

"The following roads remain closed:
Hill Street at the junction of Brunell Street,
Mailbox Square,
Swallow Street."

: Emergency services are attending a ”serious incident” in Birmingham City Centre between the Mailbox and New Street Station tonight (Wednesday).

A large cordon is in place, including a multi-storey car park near the Mailbox, and people accessing the car park are being grouped and allowed in level-by-level depending on where they are parked.

There is a large presence of police, ambulance, and fire crews by the Tamatanga Takeaway. The nature of the incident is currently unknown.
