Translation:
Behold in their ranks are many powerful warriors, like Yuyudhan, Virat, and Drupad, wielding mighty bows and equal in military prowess to Bheem and Arjun. There are also accomplished heroes like Dhrishtaketu, Chekitan, the gallant King of Kashi, Purujit, Kuntibhoj, and Shaibya—all the best of men. In their ranks, they also have the courageous Yudhamanyu, the gallant Uttamauja, the son of Subhadra, and the sons of Draupadi, who are all great warrior chiefs.

Due to his anxiety, the Pandava army seemed much larger to Duryodhan than it actually was. He had never expected his opponents would mobilize an army of warriors with such military prowess, who would be formidable in battle. Out of fear of the looming catastrophe, he started enumerating the names of all the mahārathīs (warriors who were singly equivalent in strength to ten thousand ordinary warriors) gathered on the Pandava side. They were all exceptional heroes, and great military commanders, equivalent in valor to his cousins Arjun and Bheem.

When the photographer Arthur Sasse asked physicist and scientist Albert Einstein to smile for the camera on his 72nd birthday on 14 March 1951 – this is the image that was taken. Einstein was tired of smiling for all the photographers and instead decided to stick out his tongue. Einstein himself later used the image on greetings cards that he sent to friends.

Assam Divas is a regional public holiday in the Indian state of Assam on December 2nd each year.Also known as Suokaphaa Divas, this holiday commemorates the advent of the first king of the Ahom kingdom in Assam

History of Asom Divas:

The Ahom dynasty was established by Chaolung Sukaphaa, a prince from the Tai state of Mong Mao, close to present-day Ruili in Yunnan, China.

His maternal uncle who was the king had no child for long time so suokafa was supposed to be the next king after his uncle. But the queen gave birth to a son at a very late age.Due to which suokafa's path to the throne was blocked. So according to suggestion of sam lung fa he decided to leave Mong Mao in a journey to establish a new kingdom. He along with many other followers migrated towards the brahmaputra valley and crossing the Patkai Mountains, he arrived in Namrup, in the southeast of Assam in 1228. The date of his arrival is usually accepted as the founding date of the Ahom Kingdom.

Suokafa is revered for being a strong, courageous and bold leader and he played a vital role in unifying the various indigenous ethnic groups of Assam.
He conquered many of the local tribes, though he was smart enough to realise that the people in the tribes he had conquered, outnumbered the Ahom. He put in place conciliatory measures to unite all the indigenous people, treating them all equals and encouraged intermarriage between the Ahoms and other tribes. He accepted the culture of the people of the brahmaputra valley and people of this land accepted him as well. Later this concept of accptence and sharing led to the formation of the assamese society.

Sukapha's reign established the Ahom Kingdom that would rule medieval Assam for the next six hundred years, famously resisting other great powers such as the Mughals. The period of Ahom rule is seen as a glorious chapter in the history of Assam.

December 2nd has been a public holiday in Assam since 1996. But while celebrating the Assam divas we should no forget former ULFA leader Bhimkanta Buragohain who proposed to celebrate this day as Suokafa divas or Assam divas for the first time.
Praising suokafa let us remember his believes and ideologies to build a united and greater Assam which is very important in this era.

On this birth anniversary of an unparalleled hero, let's recall the bravery, courage and statesmanship of Lachit Borphukan, the man of tremendous valour and exemplary leadership.

Ruled by the powerful Ahoms for 600 years from the mid 13th century, Assam remained invincible throughout most of the medieval period of Indian history. The Mughals couldn't touch Assam. In fact, it was here that they suffered their most embarrassing defeat.

The year was 1671 and the decisive battle of Saraighat was fought on the raging waters of the Brahmaputra. On one side was Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb's army headed by Ram Singh of Amer (Jaipur) and on the other side was the Ahom General Lachit Borphukan, who made his way into history books that year. Details of his spectacular victory were meticulously captured in a Buranji, the official chronicles of the Ahom kings, maintained through their reigns. It gives us a vivid picture of what happened over 350 years ago.

Lachit Borphukan is an emotion. His famous words, "dekhotkoi mumai dangor nohoi", never fails to arouse a sense of patriotism in us. He is an inspiration for generations across.

A Science Forum was formed today in North Lakhimpur Autonomous College, Lakhimpur Assam. It was formed with a motto to spread Scientific mindset and rational thinking and tackle Superstition and Pseudosciences.

Assam itself is a backward area in terms of scientific and rational mindsets. Most of the people (even the well educated ones) have a believe system full of Superstitions and Pseudosciences. Shockingly enough North Lakhimpur is even more conservative and socially backward then most parts of Assam.For example The locals here shut down their shops during an eclipse which is unfortunately very disturbing in this modern era. This step by a prestigious educational institute in the area will hopefully be a help to tackle the problem.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam has always been known for his knowledge and kindness. Here is a real-life incidents that show how inspiring the man has always been.

One day when some ISRO scientists were returning from Kourou, French Guiana, after overseeing the testing of INSAT-4B communications satellite, they did not expect what was to follow at the Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. After checking their passports, the airport officers continued to es**rt them. Confused, the scientists asked if there was any problem when the officer said they had orders to do so.
A senior officer then asked them to access the VIP Lounge of the Airline as their flight was scheduled after three hours. When the scientists told them that they had economy tickets, the officer informed that president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was boarding a flight from the same terminal a few hours back, and had informed them that scientists from ISRO would be using their services as there is a satellite launch. He also requested them to take care of them.

Amused ,the scientists stayed in the lounge for those 3 hours and later left in their flight.

In spite of his busy schedule, Dr Kalam remembered that there was a launch scheduled and that many scientists would be traveling to and from India to ensure a successful mission.

Silchar Flood : Assam’s Silchar area remained inundated and cut off ,as the death toll in the state hit by floods rose to 108 since April, with seven more people drowning on Thursday, officials said. The administration of South Assam's Cachar district on Thursday said that they have never before seen such a disaster before and they would 'fight till last moment' to rescue people as the flood wreaked havoc in Silchar and its adjoining areas disrupt. “Nearly 280,000 people in Silchar and other areas are affected due to floods. The entire town is almost submerged under water. Among the affected are our officers, workers, relief workers as well and that’s why we have not been able to provide optimum facilities. But despite the hardships, we have distributed 40,000 litres of water, 200,000 biscuit packets and 10,000 quintals of rice with lentils and oil,” Cachar deputy commissioner Keerthi Jalli said in a video message on Thursday morning. #AssamFlood #silchar #Unheard
