In 1983 this TV movie was broadcast and changed the world in ways we didn't even begin to understand at the time. Aside from the starkly realistic depictions (as best as could be managed at the time at least), an entire series of conversations about media, communication, mass psychology, activism, terrorism, and more were opened up.

Tonight we're going to look at some of the film's often overlooked themes beyond simply the nuclear fear anxieties of the early 1980s. We'll talk about how this and other similar films impacted both the discussion of nuclear war and discussions of media and responsibility and profit and bias and motivation and so much more....all that tonight on TJHS!

I'll be de-activating this page soon. I'd like to revisit this approach for crowdfunding innovation in information literacy and media literacy, but for right now this framework is stagnant and will likely return in some other form in the future when I've got proper time and energy to put into it.

My many thanks to all who contributed, which led to the creation of Custode and my own ongoing ability to stay alive, if even just barely. You can keep up with my ongoing work at John Henry and associated platforms, and we'll revisit this approach and how to make it into something to help someone else, when time and circumstances permit.

I've fought for years against sometimes nearly impossible odds to stay up and running and speaking truth to power and teaching people how to protect themselves against disinformation, and that fight is about to finally cost me the last I have to give. Please: contribute if you can and engage - that last part is free. Watch for a while if you're unsure. Ask questions. I'll answer them. You may not LIKE the answer, mind you, but it'll be honest, true, and fair.

I've GOT to have at least 60% of this done before I to go sleep tonight. The landlord could literally show up at any minute with the cops trying to demand I leave, and I don't even have the resources to get an injunction to stop him if he does.

I don't just have to go, I *am going.* Whether I'll be able to stay alive and keep working where I'm going, I don't know yet. It depends on this fundraiser.

I want to talk in-depth about this whole situation with the railroads and Biden and Congress and the unions; that whole situation is being spun really hard against progressives, often by those claiming to BE progressives. There's a big conversation about ego, power, abuse of power, and how we keep falling for and into toxic, self-destructive behaviors that ultimately help to empower the totalitarian/autocratic/fascist powermongers among us. Not sure how well I'm going to manage to hit that tonight, but I'll try.
