The driver of the Buick SUV had to be extricated by Firefighters before being transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
About a year ago, several parked cars in the same area were hit and damaged. The black SUV that was extensively damaged and probably totaled in this crash was one of the vehicles damaged a year ago. The owner had just put new wheels and tires on it.

Sometime around 7:00 Monday evening - Watchdog doesn't know exactly when as the call was sent to the VPD Officers over their Mobile Data Terminals which is happening more and more - a car ran off of Locust at Pine and took out the street sign and a small electrical pole. The driver apparently took off leaving a bumper behind as proof he or she was there and a couple of Edison trucks showed up to cut the power to the downed pole.

A little before 4:00 Tuesday afternoon, a gray Jeep SUV and a white Buick SUV collided at Noble and Locust. The collision sent the Jeep up over the curb and into a fire hydrant. The Buick ended up facing the wrong way on Noble. Once a tow truck removed the Jeep from where it knocked off the hydrant, Firefighters started working on stopping the impressive, but wasteful geyser as VPD Officers controlled traffic flow on the streets. Eventually a Fire Captain got the valve turned off stemming the flow. It appeared that one person was slightly injured in the accident and received treatment in the american Ambulance. Watchdog doesn't know if anyone was eventually transported to the nearby hospital.
At about 1:00 Sunday morning, VPD Officers responded to a call about a person passed out and slumped over the steering wheel in a car at Demaree and Tulare. When the Officers arrived, they found the car was facing west in the eastbound lane of Tulare and the driver sawing logs. When one of the Officers woke the driver up, he punched the Officer and then resisted as the Officers removed him from the car. Of course, no one likes being woken up when you're sound asleep in a car facing the wrong way in the middle of a street, but Watchdog thinks he may be in a bit of a pickle for how he acted. Watchdog wasn't at the scene so he doesn't know exactly what the outcome was; whether the palooka left in an ambulance or a PD car, but he did hear the call for a tow truck so he definitely didn't leave in his car. A big thank-you to the follower who sent in a video of the Officers getting the driver out of the car.

Fire and Police were dispatched at 10:03 tonight (Friday) to a large fire in the apartment complex under construction on the northeast corner of Akers and Riggin. Arriving Units found several buildings on fire. Firefighters limited the spread of the fire and it appeared that only three or four of the eight or more buildings were lost. Some of the Firefighters will be on scene for most of the night as the remains of the fire burns out and to make sure no new hot spots start up. VPD Officers and VIP Units were on hand to control traffic in the area during the fire. As of 3:00 a.m., traffic on Akers and Riggin is mostly back to normal other than a Fire Unit partially blocking the outer westbound lane on Riggin in front of the fire scene and the traffic light at Akers and RIggin set to flash red in all directions.
Many of you have probably seen WifiEye towers near construction sites, at the Fairgrounds, or anywhere else where their cameras and live monitoring can reduce theft and other crimes. Recently, they added proximity sensors to some of their towers and unique warning messages to anyone who gets too close. Here's one worth hearing:

At about 6:00 this evening, Fire and Police were dispatched to the second fire in two days at Dinuba and Glendale across Dinuba Blvd. from the Sports Park.. This time it was the abandoned house next to the abandoned garage/barn/shed that caught fire on Saturday. (At the same time, 6:00, go figure.) No one was injured and the Firefighters got the fire out so quickly that they were just mopping up and dealing with a few hot spots when Watchdog arrived. At least one Firefighter needed an on-scene Firefighter shower to get the building's dirt, grime, and cooties off his jacket and equipment.
