Many of you may have seen others posting about Crumtown Radio. Its been a long time coming but we finally have some momentum building. We now officially have several DJ's ready, and several podcasts we're developing. There is still a lot to do, and a lot to build, but we're beginning to really focus on our content catalog.
Our plan is a 1000 musician, 15,000 song catalog by mid year.

There are some rules though....You MUST be an unsigned artist. We are catering to small up and coming artists, not artists that get played on every other station. We will not be paying licensing fees(ASCAP or any other) so all your music must be original as well. No covers. If you have a cover on your otherwise original album we can still play your music, just not that song....you will be required to disclose covers. You must have at least 1 full length album to offer. No live shows. We are not looking for live sets right now. In the future we will be offering 'live on the air' slots to play and accepting pre recorded live performances as well, but for now we are focusing on studio work. You must be a current active band. No throwbacks or non working bands. Sorry, we're trying to help grow the music scene and if your band isn't active we have to pass so we can focus on active musicians.
So how does it work? what do you get? Crumtown is a digital radio station that operates like a terrestrial one. No rewinding/replaying, no playlists, no algorithms, no choosing the song. The DJs curate the music, and it plays on time just like FM radio. It will have a website, an app, and be available on all streaming platforms as well as be android auto and apple auto compatible. There are features and details beyond that, but that is the basic idea. We'll have podcasts injected periodically instead of talk radio as well and play our own(Fools Hill) live shows too, when they happen.
We are selling ad slots now(preemptively), so if you own a small business and would like to get heard on NY & PA's newest hottest home for live music, get in touch. We can work with any business to maximize your ad dollars and get you the audience that works for you. Of course, this is how we will be paying our artists, DJ's, producers, and editors so your ad dollars will stay close to home and you will be helping to support your community and strengthen the music scene.
We will eventually be paying ALL artists that we sign. The rate will be disclosed in private conversations. We have to sell our ad slots first though, so we are asking bands to allow us access to their catalogs for up to two years with only retroactive payments. This will allow us to build our ad revenue and get our DJ's, podcasters, producers, editors and other infrastructure in place. The actual time frame for payments to begin will vary based on our sales, number of bands on our roster and various other factors. Rest assured though, that our intention is to pay bands fairly for their work. ANY and ALL bands that sign with us WILL get paid.
*If you sign with us during this two year growth phase, you will still be compensated for the music we play during that time. It will be dispersed retroactively over a course of time(dependent on ad sales). The time frame will likely be years 2-4 but that is not guaranteed. This will also be discussed in private one on one and may evolve over time.
We are a music cooperative, and consider any band signed part of that cooperative. As such, you will get other perks we offer members. Here are some of the perks. Perks do have limits, and will be discussed in private as well.
Perks: Discounts on screen printing and embroidered patches. Free ad slots for your events/fests you play. Preference in booking our own(Fools Hill) gigs-its not a guarantee but we will always book from our roster first before we look outside. There are more perks too, but that gives you an idea.
