It’s hard to believe that Aixa was my first hire in late Spring of 2022!

Fast forward 2 years and a few months and we just added Kimberly to our team of rockstar social media mavens!

Aixa is our creative director! She’s for a mind for all things artsy and eclectic making her the perfect go-to for all our creative needs. She’s also an amazing account manager and team leader!

Gabby is our senior account manager. She makes balancing mom life and work life look like a breeze as she creates content for some of our biggest clients while caring for her little one!

Mary Grace is an account manager and podcast extraordinaire! She manages several of our client’s podcasts including the full creation process for one! Her organization skills are 🔥!

Amy, a wedding photographer by weekends and our girl Friday on the weekdays, she pitches in to help with video editing and content creation as needed! We’d be a lot less effective without her!

And now Kimberly! She’s our newest account manager with several years of experiencing managing social media accounts and a degree in marketing!

Curious what it would mean to work with our team on your social media efforts? Go ahead, slide into the DMs and we’ll talk!

It’s slide 13 for me!

Which of these was a recent realization for you?

Snoop Dogg was giving me life at the Olympics this year, so I couldn’t resist this trend with a social media management spin.

Let the digital detox begin!

For at least 10 years, I’ve taken a tech break from Christmas until the New Year!

And now that the team is more than just me, the whole company takes this break.

We spend hours upon hours every day on our phones engrossed in social media. And we love it.

But we aren’t immune to all downsides of social media, so to make sure we have a healthy relationship with these new forms of communication, this week away is crucial.

I’ve encouraged my team to not look at their emails at all. To not log into our clients social media accounts, to not log into their own (if they want).

And instead to read a physical book, to spend time with family and friends, to pick up a new hobby, to go for long walks in nature - whatever revives their mind and soul!

I’ll be doing a little of all of that, while also journaling a lot about the year that just passed and the year to come! Making plans and dreaming big!

We pre-schedule content for our clients so it won’t be radio silence on their accounts, like it will be here. And all our clients know, and have been so encouraging, about this chance to reset!

So, if you’re feeling burnt out and in need of a tech break - take it! This is the perfect time of year to step away.

See you all in the New Year!

Exactly a year ago I was totally burnt out from the wild ride of entrepreneurship.

BURNT OUT!

I took almost 2 weeks off around Christmas, went home to be with my family, spent time on a silent retreat, and tried to mentally recover from what had been the craziest year on so many levels.

While on that retreat I made a list of all the things that were stressing me out, and I made an action plan to conquer each of those items.

And then I set my word of the year for 2023: Be Still.

Looking back on that list of stressors now, almost all of them are a far distant memory.

And while I traveled more this year than any other year of my life (hello Rome, Spain, Phoenix, Seattle, Atlanta, Raleigh, Knoxville, Chicago, South Bend, Milwaukee, San Francisco, etc) it was also a year in which I worked on slowing down and being still whenever possible.

As a result of the amazing team I’m surrounded by and attempting to slow down, Rosebud Social had one amazing year! A year I am beyond grateful for and super humbled by.

To all of our clients and the members of the Social Circle, we are so blessed that you trust us with your brand, your mission, and your message. We work hard every day to do justice to the trust you place in us.

To my team, thanks for everything!! (And for putting up with all my crazy ideas and the even crazier travel schedule.)

To every small business owner out there in the burnout years, you got this! Take a break, regroup, and continue plowing along. You’ll be amazed at what a difference a single year can make.

Thank you to everyone who helped make 2023 the year that it was!

🫶🏻So grateful for my amazing team! (even if we don’t have a full team company pic yet)

Years ago I was at a networking event (for a start-up app I worked for) and the keynote that night said ‘let’s be honest the first hires are always a mistake.’ He laughed and went on with the presentation.

Since most of us in the audience were first hires for the companies we represented, the sentiment was not appreciated.

Now, as a business owner with my first round of employees, I like that idea even less!

My first hires are amazing!

These ladies are hardworking, dedicated, and driven. They are always learning and improving. They know our clients, but more important, they GET our clients!

They put up with my crazy travel schedule and my plethora of new ideas. They dream with me about the future of Rosebud Social and where we want to take it!

And together we come up with some pretty awesome ideas for our clients and our company!

So this year, I’m more than a little grateful for this crew!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

No more staring at a blank screen trying to find a content idea!

(PS Save this post so you can grab a prompt any time you’re in a content slump.)

Imagine this: effortlessly creating captions that resonate, crafting visuals that captivate, and weaving engaging posts—all with the help of a little technological assistant.

Don’t get me wrong, we don’t use this for all the writing we do.

But we do LOVE to use it to generate ideas, to get the creative juices flowing.

Think of it as your digital sidekick - bringing a touch of tech brilliance to your creative process, helping you work smarter not harder.

No more staring contests with that cursor. No more doom scrolling waiting to be hit with inspiration.

Use any (or all) of these 18 prompts to spark your creativity today!

Which haunted house are you stuck in?

I’ve been there too! The haunted house of the growing to-do list as you try to post to social media - that’s been mine a time or two!

But here’s the thing… you don’t need to be caught in that haunted house forever!

In fact, you never have to be stuck in it again!

You just need some tools and guidance to help you escape.

That’s why we are launching the Social Circle on November 1st! This membership program is built for small business owners like you, so that you can take back all those hours you spend on social media and then use them in the other aspects of your business.

Heck, what business owner would’t want a few more hours in their week?

The program will provide you with helpful tips, tools and resources to nail your social media presence. My team is going to help take the guess work out of it and give you the tools to succeed.

There is so much more to share, but I’ll save that for tomorrow!

Ever wonder how to remove the background from your photos?

Swipe to learn my three ways!

Canva’s background remover, in my opinion, is the most accurate at removing what needs to be gone and keeping what you want. Plus, it’s easy to do minor edits on the image.

InShot is also pretty accurate and easy to use when making Reels or other videos that require a cutout image.

Last, but not least, the newest edition of Apple’s iOS allows for quick background removal. It’s not perfect and you can’t seem to edit yet, but it’s great for selfies with a simple background.

Which have you tried?

Who are you meant to be as a business owner, as a person, as a friend?

More and more I’ve been seeing clearly that so much angst, worry, and turmoil comes when we shy away from being who we were meant to be. When we allow ourselves to be less than our best self.

On the flip side, when we embrace who we were meant to be there is a clarity, a peace, an inner rightness that can’t be achieved living in that other realm.

In business…

When I first started Rosebud Social I saw myself helping boss babes, MLM divas, and craft breweries. I knew a fair amount about all of that and you know I love a good craft beer.

But that never panned out. That wasn’t the intersection of my talents and expertise.

When I made the switch to focus on Catholic businesses and mission-minded brands THAT is when the fire flared to life. AND that is when my business really took off!

In honor of today’s memorial of Catherine of Siena, I bought a ring with this phrase on it. It reminds me daily to focus on what I was created to do and to let the rest go. Someone else was created for that other stuff, just not me.

Intro posts… We’ve all seen them and they often look the same. Someone says: ‘Hey, there are a lot of new faces around here and so I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little more bout me.’

While you can follow that script, there are also a number of ways you can introduce yourself and your brand without that exact message. Here are 8 alternative ideas to that classic intro post model.

1 Share Your Why. We all have that mission/purpose or thing that drives us. Tell us about that.

2 Fun Facts. 2, 10 - it doesn’t matter, but share some interesting, maybe little known, facts about you and your business.

3 This or That. Offer two seemingly similar options and share which you prefer, than ask your audience to share their responses in the comments.

4 Tell a Life-Defining Story. Give a little insight into how you got where you are today, a moment that shaped or formed you in a meaningful way.

5 Behind-the-Scenes Info. Peel back the curtain a share a little of your life beyond what is normally seen. We love getting ‘insider’ knowledge.

6 I Believe Statements. List several truths you believe that are related to your field of expertise.

7 Timeline of Significant Events. Walk people through how you got to where you are today!

8 Top Ten List. Create a list of anything under the sun: mistakes made, achievements, little known facts, people you admire, favorite products/offerings, etc…

No matter what, remember your intro posts should still be targeted to your brand and your audience. You want to provide them with information and knowledge that helps them understand why you or your business would be a good bet for them!

I remember the days when you would take a photo on Instagram, apply one of the handy in-app filters and then post as is. HA! Those were the days! (Show of hands if you lived that life once upon a time.)

Over the years, I've literally tried over a hundred apps to hack the post creation process and make it as simple (and still show-stopping) as possible.

Now, I've whittled it down to these 5 apps. It's rare that I'll need or use anything else.

Tell me, what are you using these days?

Drawing a blank on Stories? How about tapping into a few of these ideas?

Honestly, you could pull on this list nearly every time you’re drawing a blank about what to share that day!

Remember to show your face, when possible! A lot of these ideas can be done with you simply talking on Stories.

Which will you do today?

If you feel uninspired or unsure about what to post, use these prompts to jump start the creation process.

I’d recommend jotting down your through the on each of these before you work at creating the post or recording the Reel!

And have fun with it! This doesn’t have to be drudgery!

Whew! Wrapping up my first full week back in the office since the summer began! It’s a strange feeling - but not a bad one!

It feels like FOR-EV-ER since I connected with so many of you. But I promise I didn’t just ditch the biz, or my passion for providing social media tools for you to succeed.

Rather, I split my time between this business I love and a lot of other things that were demanding my time and attention.

Swipe to see what I’ve been up to:

In June one of my brothers got married! We partied, partied, and partied some more.

In late June and the middle of July I ran two different summer camps for girls in the St. Louis area. That meant plenty of dress-up, spontaneous dance parties, late nights, little sleep and much fun.

After that for three weeks I taught an online course to high school girls in Chicago about starting a virtual business. The creativity of that group of 18 students blew my mind.

Then it was off to Chicago for a variety of influencer work for .

After that I road tripped out to the East Coast. Spent a couple days with my sister’s family in Chattanooga before heading off to Virginia for three weeks.

I studied, I hiked, I recharged.

And I got home Sunday recharged and ready to jump back in full-time for the moment.

After all, that’s the beauty of owning your own business - you get to control the hours you work, how you spend your time, and what you do to fill you up in aspects beyond work.

🎉So… tell me: what’s one fun thing you did this summer? What did I miss?
