My new custom-made canvas has arrived! Excited to get started on my next painting! It’s a big one!
👩🏼🎨 half a day of painting summed up into one short video. I applied gesso to the canvas so the oil will not be absorbed by the wooden canvas. After painting a few coats, I am ready for the next step of this astronaut themed painting. I have some great ideas for this piece and I am going to bring you along on the journey from start to finish! 72 x 60 inch oil painting.

👩🚀 Started painting the astronaut helmet. Then I realized that the background was still to light to give the effect I want. So, I stopped painting the astronaut helmet and started darkening the background with mars black, paynes grey and raw umber. It’s starting to look more like my vision now. If you look at the left side of the helmet before I start darkening the background, you can see it looks like the helmet is a darker grey…. But that same area looks much lighter after I change the background. I love seeing stuff like that when I’m painting! I’ll continue to share the process on this huge painting as I go.
