For anyone going through a tough time (especially students now that school has begun), I want you to try and see tough times as a change towards something positive (I know, easier said than done). I myself have trouble doing this from time to time. There was a time in highschool when I sat alone at my locker, ate lunch by myself, did my homework and took the bus home alone. I felt alone for a bit and definitely sad. I took school seriously but had to postpone writing an accounting exam because I couldn't concentrate. I called Appa to pick me up from school as I couldn't stop crying. On my way home, Appa told me that it does not matter who has your back in life, what matters is that you have your own back. Those words changed the way I saw my situation. I went back to school and started to realize that being alone allowed me to discover who I am. I became comfortable being on my own and I felt incredibly empowered knowing that my happiness did not depend on anyone else. [WORKING WITH BRANDS *RANT*] I have definitely learned from my own experiences and wanted to share them hoping it would help even one person in their interactions with brands. So, throughout this 1 year of being active on social media, I have been approached by few brands that offered me free products in exchange for a story or picture post. Most of the brands I worked with provided great customer service and kept their word on their end of the bargain. For instance, if they said they were going to provide "so and so" they would provide that and even send extra products that weren't even discussed to try out. On my end, I would complete my end of the bargain and even sometimes throw in a free video AD if the customer service was exceptional! Unfortunately, not every brand you come across will keep their word. They will find excuses to cut you off last minute so they can provide their products to people with more followers/engagement than you, or once they create a relationship with you they will say the products they wanted to offer are no longer available, some won't even follow up with you hoping you would just forget about their offer and etc. Whatever the excuse is, it's all good but the brand's trust and work ethics is down the drain. The point I want to get across is that if a brand or even a person is indirectly asking you to settle for less..DO NOT do it just because you rather get a free product than nothing. You rather buy that free product than sell yourself short. Know your worth and maintain healthy, positive, trustworthy relationships with brands that treat you the way you treat them.
