Begin with the end in mind.

The third-year students of Bachelor of Secondary Education majors in Mathematics (BSEd Math) conducted a seminar workshop with the theme "Innovative Approaches in Problem Solving: Navigating Challenges and Fostering Solutions" as their culminating activity in their subject Problem Solving, Mathematical Investigation, and Modeling at Limay Polytechnic College (LPC), January 19.

Guest Speaker Marvin Ibabao emphasized that there are a hundred ways to solve a mathematical problem but none of them is deemed perfect.

"We look at things from different perspectives. Whatever perspective we are coming from it's not safe to say that one perspective is better than one." He said.

The lack in follow up and reinforcement was also one the key issues he discussed, as he presented the data from 2018 and 2022 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) results.

"One of the reasons why students experience difficulties in problem solving is that they do not yet acquire the basic fundamental skills they need." He added.

[𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦]

First-year students of Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) joined the 2nd Basic First Aid Training as mandatory requirement on their National Service Training Program (NSTP) subject on January 12 at Limay Sports Complex.

Admin Assistant and Center for Research, Development, and Extension, Annlou Rochell Santiago, mentioned on her opening remarks that the seminar proper's primary aim is to promote resilience and educate the students on how to prevent hazards and disasters.

“…you are prepared to bounce back better: that’s resiliency." said PPSOSG Chief Director, Dr. Israel N. Virgines, who marked the freshmen’s mind with one of his statements.

Virgines also discussed the disaster preparedness, concept of hazards, the standing of the Philippines when it comes to disaster response and its root cause, and the features of Republic Act No. 10121 or the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010.

He explained the concept of Self-Help (people help themselves), Mutual Help (people help each other after successfully helping themselves), and Public Help (if the problem is out of reach of people’s hands).

Meanwhile, in the afternoon session, Acting Municipal Fire Marshall, Rusoler D. Tayag together with Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Officers of Limay, taught LPCians the proper folding of triangular bandage (Cravat Folding), Straddle Position, the basic types of drag, and demonstration of how to use spine board and splinting in different situations.

𝐋𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐘, 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐚𝐧— To cater special learning education, Limay National High School (LNHS) English Department conducted an orientation seminar for future educators to the Teacher-Education Department Pre-service teachers of Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) at Limay Multipurpose Hall, January 6.

The orientation seminar joined by the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) majors in English, Filipino, and Math and some secondary student-teachers from Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU).

"Mga co-teachers na rin namin kayo, sana marami kayong matutuhan at maraming ma-apply" said Hermilita C. Merigildo, LNHS Master Teacher I on her opening remarks.

"Walang pera sa pagtuturo, it's more on heart and nurturing the students" she emphasized.

On the other hand, Meriesol T. Camacho, Head Teacher III, discussed the hiring guidelines for teacher I to the aspiring young educators as she also worries that the student-teachers may 'not' pursue their careers and working with the Department of Education (DEpED) because of its rigid system.

Additionally, the other speakers form LNHS tackled other teaching trends, methods, and strategies such as the point system for comparative assessment for teacher I position, Classroom Management, Assessment, 2023 trends in Education, and 21st century skills.

Meanwhile, english teachers Sandra Arizobal and Mary Rose Abarquez performed a demonstration teaching with the integration gamification and game-based teaching.

Moreover, student-teachers are set to hold their investiture and pinning ceremony next month, according to April Cruz, head of Teacher-Education Department. #

𝗣𝗨𝗩𝗠𝗣: 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘆𝗼𝗻 𝗼 𝗸𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘀𝘆𝗼𝗻?

Ang PUVMP o Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program, na unang pinatupad noong 2017 sa bisa ng Department Order 2017-011 o ang “Omnibus Franchising Guidelines” (OFG) na inilabas ng Department of Transportation ay naglalayong palitan ng bago at modernong sasakyan ang mga tradisyunal na pamasadang jeepney.

Kasabay nito ang pagtugon ng mga tsuper at mga jeepney operators ng mga magkakasunod na welga at malawakang transport strike sa bansa. Sa ganitong paraan ay pinapakita nila ang mariin nilang pagkondina sa naturang programa ng gobyerno, na i-phaseout ang mga tradisyunal na jeepneys at isuko ang kanilang prankisa sa nakatakdang deadline bago matapos ang taong 2023.

Sa ilalim ng PUVMP ay ang sapilitang pag-aalis at pagpapalit ng mga bago at napaka-mahal na unit ng mga sasakyan sa mga kasalukuyang pampasadang jeepney. Makukumprimisa nito ang prankisa ng mga tsuper at operator at kasabay nito ang pagkawala ng kanilang hanapbuhay.

Ayon sa programa, ang kada unit na ipapalit sa mga kasalukuyan at tradisyunal na mga pampasadang jeepneys ay nagkakahalaga ng Php 2.5- 2.8M. Taliwas ito sa kakarampot na kinikita ng mga tsuper sa araw-araw nilang pamamasada na pumapalo lamang sa Php2,000-3,000 kada araw, na nababawasan pa dahil sa maintenance, krudo, at iba pang gastusin.

Maganda naman sana ang hangarin ng gobyerno, kung ang mga jeepney ngayon ay mapapalitan ng makalikasan at mas kumportableng sasakyan para sa komyuter. Ngunit sa kabila nito, ay tila huwad ang modernisasyon dahil sa pulitikal at ekonomikal na salik sa pagiimplementa nito.

Kung susumahin, ang mga importerted na mga sasakyan na pumapalo sa Php2.8M ay hindi makataong aksyon sa mala-pyudal sa sistema ng bansa at mga malalaking korporasyon lamang ang labis na makikinabang nito. Kung tutuusin, mas mura ang mga lokal na gawang tradisyunal na jeepney na nagkakahalaga lamang ng Php 200,000 - 400,000 kada unit.

Matagal nang mayroong mga offer na lokal modernisasyon at rehabilitasyon ng mga pamasadang jeepneys sa bansa. Ang isyu, korapsyon at kapitalismo.

Kung iisipin, kung papatulan ng gobyerno ang lokal at mga pinropose na modernize jeepneys, ay wala silang mapapala rito. Kaya naman mas kahuma-humaling nga naman sa kanilang mga bulsa kung sa mga malalaking korporasyon sila makikipagtulungan at sa mga imported at mahal na unit sila kukuha na maaring ibenta o ipautang sa mga drayber upang ipamasada.

Sa nalalapit na deadline, kung ang mga tsuper ay papasok sa consolidation, isinusuko na rin nila ang karapatan sa kanilang indibidwal na prankisa at sasakyan. Tahasang atake sa kabuhayan ng libo-libong tsuper at operator ang sapilitang Franchise Consilidation. Kahit ano pa mang mabulaklak na salita ng gobyerno, ang phaseout at kawalan ng kabuhayan ng mga libo-libong tsuper at maliliit na operator ang ating makikita.

Iisa lamang ang kahilingan at laban ng mga tsuper at kumyuter: tugunan ang malawakang pagtutol sa PUVMP at suportahan ang rehabilitasyon ng mga jeepney at PUV, para sa mas makamasa at makatarungang transisyon.

𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴.

Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) presents this year's party as they celebrate the spirit of Christmas, themed "LPC Tanglaw 2023: A Light of Hope," which happened at the LPC grounds on December 15.

Opening the doors of hope and joy, the Panunuluyan representing the highlight of the event, Cultural Society illuminated the Christmas season as they dramatized the search for Bethlehem by Joseph and Mary right before Jesus was born.

Lights off as part of the event, The Wish Upon A Star segment provided the chosen students of LPC as making their wishes come true with inspiring messages from College President, Dr. Elmer B. De Leon.

Cultural Society's Star ng Pasko performance as the climax of the first ever lighting ceremony in LPC, brightened the whole campus.

Followed by different performances from the different organizations and holiday songs filled the whole Christmas vibes in this year's LPC Paskuhan.

𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗦: Education Department is adorned with joy and excitement as they came together for the highly anticipated annual year-end party today, December 15, at LPC Ground.

Earlier in the morning, the BAT Department firstly celebrated their departmental year-end party followed by the Education Department this afternoon.

Each organization — League of Elementary Pre-Servce Teachers, Lingua Societas, Kapisanan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Filipino, and Mathematics Society — wrapped up the celebration as they presented their prepared performances.

Furthermore, Educators Guild's president, Eivryll M. Tidon, lead the parlor games and raffle draws.

Nakapagtala ng 104 puntos mula sa labing pitong laro ang Yellow Hornets, malayo sa pumangalawa sa overall ranking na Green Jaguars na may kabuuang 63 puntos at Blue Falcons na may 49 na puntos.

Julia Barcarse starred in the match, seizing 12 points coming from 12 attacks and 2 aces.

"Siguro dahil nagkasundo sundo kami kung ano yung dapat gawin, ‘di kami nagpadala sa kung ano anong sinasabi ng iba." exclaimed Barcarse.

[𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀] Excited and determined. This is how some graduating education students of Limay Polytechnic College felt, after being deployed on the first day of their internship as pre-service teachers in various Cooperating Schools in Limay Bataan as part of their Field Study observation on Monday. A total 31 BEEd and 3 BSEd students started their journey as a student teacher in Limay Elementary School, St Francis Elementary School, Alangan Elementary School, Lamao Elementary School, and Kinaragan Integrated School. LPC Teacher Education Department Head, April R Cruz, together with Field Study Instructors, Isaac Valdez and Joan Padua led the said deployment. Meanwhile, additional student-teachers are set to be deployed this week including Secondary interns from English, Filipino, and Math majors to their corresponding cooperating schools in St. Francis National Highschool, Limay National Highschool, and Lamao National Highschool.
