Steady day after an early start yesterday am. M20 closure wasn’t in place (must’ve finished early) then by the time I reached the M25 that was reopened as was the A1 so 4hrs saw us at the drop point & 25 mins later were pulling out. Nipped into Spalding Scania where the service was top class as were the facilities including a spot on shower. Changed a faulty exhaust gate & cleared the fault codes whilst I did a couple of little jobs on the trailer before running to Mondays load point & dropping the trailer in. I found a car wash just up the road & gave the Scania a much needed swill before finding a great little park up & heading out for a beer & tea.
Had a walk around the town today & found a different pub to try along with possibly somewhere to head tomorrow that does Sunday roast. Always interesting to see the motorbikes having worked with them for so long, including the 2500cc Triumph Rocket3 😱 & a cool “Bobber”. Bit of shopping to do before an afternoon of cleaning & polishing then it’s Saturday night on the town 🍻😃. Whatever you’re doing have a great, safe & enjoyable weekend. Back to it Monday 🇳🇱
Hello Boss. There’s a queue at the train & I’ve a bit of a dilemma with tomorrow’s delivery 🤔. Do I go via the island off the coast of Nigeria or the more obvious route ? Looks a “straight forward” enough drive though 😂😂
Lovely early morning & a quick tip so it was find myself a washout time & as luck would have it I stumbled across what I initially thought was just a car wash but turned out to have a truck bay & long reach hoses 👍🏽. After a little problem getting it all to work & sorting out the tokens we gave the box a good blast out & left her drying in the sunshine while I availed myself of orange juice & coffee in the adjoining restaurant. Gorgeous scenery on my way across towards Rome along the A25 from Pescara to where I’m now loading for the UK. Captain Slow is loading from somewhere very near (if not the same place) but he’s currently tipping in Rome so is some way behind - again 🤦🏻♂️.
Right let’s point her North & see what we can do with the 1100+ miles to Calais 😃
Topped up with fuel for the trip yesterday but they didn’t have adblue. Still 1200 miles range left so alls good & we’re firing them off quick smart this morning just having breakfast at No3. 09:40am & it’s already 31deg 🔥 & we’re heading South ! 2hrs should see me at the next one & the 5th is open until 18:00pm so 🤞I can cover the 200 miles between them with no fuss 😬🇮🇹😎.
Up past Carisio with no time to stop & the next ones off in Milan with just enough time to get down to No3 which opens this morning. Scorching afternoon 😱 so a light lunch & some rest after the early start along with a bit of TV. Hoping to get 4 off today & run down towards No5 & 6 (which is spectacular 😉). Daybreak just before the Frejus tunnel. We made excellent time down here & if only we could have done another 30 miles on Friday we could have made Turin in 1 hit this morning-oh well 🤷♂️. Time was ticking on last night after starting my Italian run heading North 🤪 so I decided I’d stay on the motorway to best utilise my time (& rest). Found a space in a large services unfortunately leaving me just half an hour more than a shift to reach Turin tomorrow so it’ll be an even earlier start as I need to fit a 45 in before arriving. Headed into the showers this morning & the lady explained that due to a technical problem there was only cold available. No problem says I (I’d promised myself a wild water swim last year & never did it) I’m from Yorkshire 😱. Little did I know they had it piped in direct from a melting Icelandic glacier - it was FREEZING 🥶. Anyway, mission accomplished & back to the truck for a clean up & tidy out before lunch & more Yellowstone. You’ve got to love how the holidaying French take up any space they want with no consideration for trucks. Admittedly it’s not busy atm but they’re the same when it is 🤦🏻♂️. Up at the first one & put my 2nd drop into the sat-nav. Just the little issue of nearly 700 miles to tick off & not a lot of difference going Mont Blanc or Frejus so I’ll get the first 4.5hrs out of the way & reassess whilst also sorting out my stopover for a weekend rest.
Well eventually got out of the strike in Sivep & managed to drop my trailer at the Customers then get parked up safely. Thanks to Ricky Waugh for bringing the change over to me, I’ve woken up to it all ready this morning 👍🏽. Just going to grab some breakfast then do my daily checks before tipping 1 here in Belgium then it’s head as far South as possible ready for some Italian sunshine. Poor old Eeyore looked rather forlorn whilst his mates all stuck together at the other end of the field (I know that feeling 😉). Have a Great FdF everyone & follow The Breeze
Excellent tea of salmon with broccoli mash followed by pancakes with maple syrup all washed down with a cider & glass of red whilst watching a couple of episodes of Yellowstone. Good nights sleep & just a 2 minute run to Sivep this morning where a strange glowing ball has appeared in the sky. Looks like a nice day-what can possibly go wrong 😬. Morning all, been a bit quiet (on here) lately due to work & for 3 days a lack of internet ! Yes there are places (in darkest 🏴) where I had no signal - in 2024 🤦🏻♂️. Anyway, we cleared Sivep last night & just managed an hour down the road before pulling in for the night in a really nice aire (services). Grabbing a bit of breakfast before heading for the shower & a ☕️ then rest up some more before a long shift tonight taking us to Rungis (spot the theme 😂) & hopefully across to Rennes. Interesting wagon & drag on the way to Belgium yesterday, efficient utilisation of space for automotive movements. Too late to tip yesterday (3pm 🤦🏻♂️) thanks to a lengthy delay at Sivep so a catch up on “The Crown” (wow what a family 😱) then a gorgeous tea of pulled pork in BBQ sauce & mashed spuds washed down with a tin of “apple juice” 😉. Decent tips this morning but sadly we’ve to negotiate Antwerp again in atrocious weather heading for a trailer change then back to the UK 🇬🇧. HAGD all.

Decent day today, early start & crossed the pond without fuss then just a very slight delay at Dartford tunnel before a good run up to Cambridge services & breakfast. Stopped short of Newcastle for lunch then trotted up to Purdey Lodge for fuel which got me thinking I could even utilise another 20 mins of my day & get 10 miles closer for tomorrow’s drop (& there’s a pub here !) so called time at 9h 48m. #trucking TAP the Play arrow ▶️
