Am I the only one in a tornado of chaos? 😩 I have no clue what happened 🤦🏽‍♀️ It was Thanksgiving and then BOOM! Happy New Year?! I’m so confused 😩 What is going on?! Time is moving so fast! I will never forget, in preschool I dressed as Cinderella. I was OBSESSED with Brandy as Cinderella. And this miserable little boy felt that he had to let me know that princesses aren’t Black. I proudly clapped back “IM THE BLACK CINDERELLA BRANDY!” 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ Well… he wasn’t convinced there was such a thing 😵‍💫🫣 Obviously his parents didn’t let him watch the ABC Broadcast 🫠 I still think of that often. When I saw this Tiana dress in World of Disney I literally screamed. I’m so glad that my child won’t grow up with the fairest of them all, the Belle of the ball, etc., NEVER ever looking like her.

Abby Cadabby became my favorite character the moment she was introduced on the block. She’s PINK, super girly, strong, loves the environment, smart and funny. I’d like to think she’s 3 year old muppet me 🤣

I got surprised!!

Can you all believe that I didn’t find out about this until like an hour before? I don’t know how my husband didn’t burst! He can’t hold water 😒🤣 No one acted (unusually) weird until like 3:30 and it started at 4:30 🤣🤣

The only clue I had was I saw him take a picture of my friends phone number a few weeks ago. But I thought it just didn’t work out. As I was preparing to get ready to go to the pumpkin patch everyone got WEIRD! And all of a sudden I had a Photoshoot to go to 😒😒😒

Just wait for more from my color party 🤣 It was definitely a time. My friends did NOT come to play 🤣 Everyone understood the assignment.

Mood: When you realize your crazy parents decided what college you’re attending for you 🫣🐍🤣

135 years ago today, two teachers and fifteen students gathered on a rattlesnake infested former slave plantation to form the State Normal College for Colored Students. Florida A&M University now stands as the #1 Public Historically Black College/University.

And we’ve already invested in our little Rattler’s education with 529 Savings Plan. So she is WELL on her way to becoming a 4th Generation Rattler! 🐍🫶🏽

God, I’m grateful.

During the month of September we recognize families and the health professionals that care for them 💚

During my labor so much went wrong so very fast from me simply not being heard. She was born limp, blue, and had to be resuscitated for over five minutes. Over the next few days her condition continued to worsen with new diagnosis everyday without adequate care.

Before I knew it she was loaded onto an ambulance to be transferred to a different hospital and admitted to the NICU. Due to COVID we were only allowed to see her one at a time and because I wasn’t a patient of the hospital I couldn’t stay with her. Never would I have imagined having to leave my baby with complete strangers so soon.

My husband spent all day of everyday with her. At night he’d wheel me up to the NICU and nap in the car while I took the night shift as long as I could stand the pain as I was freshly recovering from an emergency c-section. Most nights she was sleep or getting one of her treatments so I rarely had the opportunity to actually enjoy just being with her.

I couldn’t wait for the day I could hold her without the anxiety of all the chords and beeping alarms. She took every poke and prod like a champ while I bawled my eyes out. I know she was tired but she fought hard everyday. She proved at a few days old that she could conquer anything.

Though this situation was totally preventable I am so grateful for our NICU experience. I might have cried a lot of tears but one set was for having to say goodbye to Dorian’s amazing nurses.

HBCU Week is making its way to October 7-9 👩🏽‍🎓 As a Disney Lover and 3rd Generation HBCU Graduate and Current PhD Candidate, the work of makes me so proud! I am so excited to see this event hosted at Disney! And who doesn’t LOVE Drum Major Mickey?!

High school students will have the opportunity to meet with Historically Black College/University admission counselors, receive college admission on the spot, and learn more about scholarship opportunities. Events include HBCU Band Cavalcades in Magic Kingdom, Battle of the Bands, HBCU Recruitment Fair, and ESPN’s First Take with Stephan A Smith LIVE!

World Princess Week highlights the impact of Disney Princesses and the courage and kindness they inspire in fans all around the world.

This week Walt Disney World Resorts are screening Princess movies at select resorts. There will be a princess-themed DJ dance party on Saturday, Aug. 27 at Disney Springs. You can stop by the American Pavilion at EPCOT for your free Tiana and Naveen-inspired paper crown. AND you have to indulge in one of the many princess-themed food and beverage offerings throughout Walt Disney World!!
