Skomer Island, Wales

If you plan far enough ahead you are able to
stay an extended weekend on the island at the hostel there. There’s no hot water, you have to carry everything in and out, and it is freezing over night. But!
You get the entire island to yourself for one day and get to enjoy staying over night to watch sunsets with owls flying around, endless cliffs and wildflowers, and so many cool birds and slugs so I think the trade off is fine.

I tried to add myself for scale from both perspectives of the Elegyg Stacks but it still doesn’t even get close to how breath taking these cliffs are to stand on. Take the time to explore all the way to the Cauldron if you head over this way if you want to feel like you’re discovering a world that has never been touched.

Worms Head is a spectacle worth the drive. If you time it right and alert the lighthouse watchmen you can cross that dip and go out to the end, but don’t underestimate the timing of the tides or you will be trapped out there and they will be very disappointed in you when they have to rescue you… if they can.

So driving in the UK was really hard for me for almost a full two weeks. The gear shift is on the left, I’m sitting on the right, and driving on the left side of the road. You pass on the right, and wales has super skinny roads with giant hedges. The roundabouts have 2-3 lanes and no lines but luckily everyone is Wales is a very calm nice driver so I was able to practice in a calm environment.

Which is good because I was able to get us to the mystical Castell Coch in the middle of its own magical forest. Scroll right to check them out.

Enjoying the first plant based steak house in Wales was on my bucket list even before I started traveling full time. The filet was incredible - make sure you make a reservation though! We didn’t realize it would be the most popular spot in town but luckily they were able to find us an area to sit outside by these cute ducks so we could try it.
