James 5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

If you ever have the chance to visit Jerusalem, one place you must see is Solomon's quarries – also known as Zedekiah's cave. It's a gigantic underground quarry beneath the old city of Jerusalem, an amazing archaeological site which offers a glimpse of the handiwork of the builders of the first temple of King Solomon. Can you imagine, as the Temple was under construction, what the craftsmen and the builders must have been thinking about this glorious house they were building?

Carpenters from Lebanon gathering cedar timbers, laborers moving building materials from Joppa, stonemasons cutting and honing stones – their imaginations must have been filled with expectation and wonder as the awesome heavenly plans given to King David materialized under their meticulous construction. Each of them had a part and a glimpse of its glory as he worked, waiting, anticipating... the final manifestation of the glory of the completed Temple!

'I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain.' Philippians 2:16 NLT

On our faith journey, we must be prepared to give up instant gratification for long-term achievements. Paul wrote: 'Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ's return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless' (Philippians 2:16 NLT).

Our choices are crucial for our faith journey. The Bible says, 'Abram settled in the land of Canaan, and Lot moved his tents to a place near S***m' (Genesis 13:12 NLT). Lot prospered for a while, but then everything he worked for was destroyed. Then, 'the Lord said to Abram: "Look around from where you are...all the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever"' (Genesis 13:14-15 NIV). Abraham chose the right direction and gained everything.

When we're faced with choices, we can ask ourselves these questions: 'How will this choice affect my character and self-respect? How will this choice affect my family and those who look up to me? How will I feel when I tell God about my choice?' The Bible says: 'Such a large crowd of witnesses is all around us! So we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially the sin that just won't let go. And we must be determined to run the race that is ahead of us. We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete' (Hebrews 12:1-2 CEV).

So what now? Make godly choices! Ask God to help you walk well on his path.

Hiding God’s Word

Psalm 119:9, 11
How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to Your word. I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.

The psalmist there asks a very practical question. Is it possible for a young person really to lead a pure life? And there are many schools of thought, many forms of psychology and sociology, that write that off as impossibility. They say it’s natural in man to indulge his sexual life and indulge his fleshly desires and there’s nothing to be done about it. But I want to tell you that that’s not true.

It is possible for a young person to lead a pure life and there’s still a great reward for those who choose chastity and purity as a way of life. How is it possible? The psalmist answers his own question: By living according to God’s Word.

Then he goes on to say, “I have hidden God’s word in my heart that I might not sin against God.” That’s the secret of purity. It’s hiding God’s Word in your heart, because one or other of two things is going to happen:

Either God’s Word will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from God’s Word.

So don’t just flow with the current like a dead fish. Be willing to be a live fish and swim against the stream. God’s Word will give you the strength if you hide it in your heart. It is possible to lead a pure life even in today’s world.

God Bless You ❤️

Daily devotional - Have a read if you have time !

1 Samuel 22:1-2 David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him. And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

When David was anointed king over Israel, he didn’t take his place at the throne immediately. He had to wait, and bide his time, until Saul was removed from power, before arriving at his destined place as King. Like His father David, Yeshua (Jesus) was received as Israel's king/messiah at the triumphal entry, (often called "Palm Sunday"), and then, "anointed" King of the Jews, ironically receiving His true title from the Romans, while hanging on a cross. But He is still waiting to reveal His identity as King on earth, during the Millennial reign when His kingdom will replace the kingdoms of this world at His second advent. [Rev. 11:15].

Now, while David was waiting for his kingship to become a reality, he was chased and persecuted by Saul, driven into the wild, outlying places in the Land. There, he found other outcasts who became his followers; men who were in distress, in debt, or discontented in one way or another; those who felt they had no part in this life any longer.

Rather than casting these people away from him, because, after all he was a king, David drew them to himself, by the anointing on his life and the strength of his character; and they, of all people, recognized that he was the chosen King of Israel. David's true kingly nature embraced these lowly men and transformed them into a mighty army.

Yeshua does exactly the same with us, even while He has been rejected as king of this world. Outcasts, broken, indebted, despised, discontented people [1 Cor. 1:26-28] are chosen out of the world, and transformed by Him into mighty vessels to serve his kingdom purposes while we wait and pray for His kingdom to come

'Caring for the poor is lending to the Lord.' Proverbs 19:17 CEV

Here are four ways in which you can express kindness and generosity towards others. (1) Giving your time. Giving a few hours of your time to someone, especially if you're a busy person, can mean the world to a person who's hurting. (2) Giving your talent. Organisations like Habitat For Humanity and Doctors Without Borders marshal the talents of gifted people to relieve suffering and provide shelter to the needy. That's scriptural (see Matthew 25:34-46)! (3) Giving your treasure. 'Caring for the poor is lending to the Lord, and you will be well repaid' (Proverbs 19:17 CEV). Can you imagine the interest God pays? (4) Giving your temperament. Everybody you meet struggles with anxieties and fights battles they usually don't talk about. So, your smile and word of encouragement can be like a lifeline that helps keep them afloat that day.

Selfishness is so innate in each of us that it's like breathing; we do it without thinking. So, in order to change we must rearrange our priorities and reprogramme our minds and decide, 'I will not let this day pass until I have said or done something to help, bless, and encourage another human being.' God told Abraham, 'I will bless you...and you shall be a blessing' (Genesis 12:2 NKJV).

Today pray: 'Father, I thank you for every resource and advantage you have given me. Help me always to remember that these blessings are from you, and that they are to be shared with others for your glory. In Jesus' name, I pray, amen.'

Luke 24:49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.

Knowing He was about to depart, Yeshua (Jesus) left His disciples with a final command: stay in Jerusalem, and wait...for the promise. Of the thousands who had witnessed His miraculous ministry and heard His amazing teaching and the hundreds that had actually seen Him after the resurrection, we read in Acts that only 120 stayed and tarried until the promise arrived. But these 120 were steadfast. They waited the full term...

What would have happened if they had left after the 4th day? Or the 6th day? Or the 9th day? They would have missed the promise and the amazing blessing that came with it. But those 120 believers stayed - they stayed and pressed in until the Holy Spirit came!

'God has not given us a spirit of fear.' 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT

The Bible says, 'God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline' (2 Timothy 1:7 NLT). Overcoming fear begins with understanding that fear is a 'spirit', and it doesn't come from God. Each time you realise that, you're less likely to give in to it.

So, what has God given us in place of fear? Three things: (1) Power. Now we're not simply talking about self-help techniques and stress management. This is deeper than anxiety reduction to make your life more pleasant. It's a settled conviction that goes down to the core of your being, that all things that concern you are in the hands of a loving God who has only the best in mind for you.

Therefore all things will be well, and you can live free of worry. (2) Love. The Bible says, 'Perfect love casts out fear' (1 John 4:18 NKJV). Only when you realise that you are loved unconditionally by a God who never changes his mind about you, will you learn to love and accept yourself, and then be able to love and accept others.

Can you imagine the effect that would have on your fear of people, fear of rejection, and fear of criticism? This kind of love is more than a 'feel-good' emotion; it's a life-changing force. (3) A sound mind. Paul writes: 'We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ' (2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV). Power, love and a sound mind: these are God's answer to worry.

***Repost ***

Here's my application of Romans 14 to the question of masks and vaccines (not mandates, but our personal choices):

Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters, such as wearing masks or getting vaccinated. . . . The one who is vaccinated must not treat with contempt the one who is not vaccinated, and the one who is not vaccinated must not judge the one who is vaccinated, for God has accepted them. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.

One person considers it prudent and loving to wear a mask at church gatherings; another considers it restrictive, unhealthy, and unwise. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. Whoever wears a mask does so to the Lord. Whoever does not wear a mask does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God . . . . For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’”

So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.

Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of masks and vaccines.

So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves. But whoever has doubts is condemned [meaning, self-condemned] if they act in doubt, because their actions are not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

Paul wrote in Romans 8:18, “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” If we wish to reign with Christ, we must be prepared to suffer. We read in 2 Timothy,

This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. If we endure [suffer], we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.(2 Timothy 2:11–13)

So, we see that if we suffer, we will reign; but if we deny Jesus Christ, He will deny us. There come times in our lives when we are challenged to either suffer with Him or deny Him, and the issues are put clearly before us. (See, for example, Acts 14:22; Philippians 1:29–30; 2 Thessalonians 1:4–10.)

I have a beautiful picture that I would like to describe to you. It comes from the tabernacle, and it concerns three of the main colors, especially in the high priest’s garments: blue, purple, and scarlet. Blue is a type of heavenly color; scarlet is a type of human nature, as well as the blood; and purple is the perfect blending of blue and scarlet, which speaks of Christ as God incarnate. The blue of heaven and the scarlet of earth blend to make purple. This is a beautiful picture of the nature of Jesus Christ—both God and man, perfectly blended in a new color.

The significance of purple in Scripture is twofold: it signifies royalty and suffering. You cannot wear the purple in the kingdom if you do not first wear it on earth by suffering. If we suffer, we will reign.

Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

knowing and following Yeshua is a life of suffering and great joy, even revelry. Which ever side of the "fence" you're on at the moment, you can be thankful that, because your sins are forgiven, the end of the matter will be better than the beginning. So, count it all joy when you meet with trials....and rejoice in the Lord always...forgiveness of sins is your passport to Eternal Life. Shabbat Shalom!

Hope you guys have a great weekend !

Daily Devotion

'The battle is not yours, but God's.' 2 Chronicles 20:15 NKJV

When Israel fought the armies of Amalek, God gave them a glorious victory. Realising that God was fighting the battle for them, Moses built an altar to Jehovah-Nissi: the Lord my banner. Fighting our own battles was never God's idea. The Bible says, 'The Lord is a man of war' (Exodus 15:3 NKJV). 'The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace' (Exodus 14:14 NKJV). 'Do not be afraid nor dismayed...for the battle is not yours, but God's' (2 Chronicles 20:15 NKJV).

As humans we get exhausted and discouraged because we keep fighting in our own strength. We engage in fruitless cycles of repentance, resolution, struggle, defeat, discouragement and repenting. The only spiritual conflict that's ever successfully won is the one God fights for us. He doesn't expect us to win the battle but to let him win it on our behalf. 'But aren't we supposed to fight too?' you ask. Yes, we're to 'fight the good fight of faith' (1 Timothy 6:12 KJV). Ours isn't a battle of exhausting effort, it's the battle of believing. 'But aren't we supposed to wrestle like Jacob did?' First of all, Jacob didn't win by wrestling, he won by being rendered too weak to keep wrestling. Secondly, his victory lay in surrender to God.

Are you worn out from the battle? Are you at the end of your rope? Then you're just where God wants you! Let go and trust Jehovah-Nissi to prevail for you, because 'the battle is not yours, but God's'! Stand up and declare with Paul, 'When I am weak, then am I strong' (2 Corinthians 12:10 NKJV).

Daily Devotional - Yom Kippur

Hebrews 9:11-12 : But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building. Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood He entered in once into the Most Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Today, there are no more sacrifices and no more Temple. Yet the religious are convinced that their sins will be atoned for by doing their best to keep the law and doing good works. Sadly, there is only one recipe for true atonement -- trusting in the One of whom was prophesied long, long ago -- Yeshua haMashiach, Jesus the Messiah. His blood has covered over all of us who believe so that our sins might be washed away, that we might have favor in the sight of God and that we might have our names inscribed in the Lamb's Book of Life.

Daily Devotional - Tutti Fruity

Matthew 7:16-20 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a corrupt tree bears evil fruit. A good tree cannot bear evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
