If anyone out there is interested in hiking the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail, but doesn't have time to hike the whole 76 miles at once, this book is for you. The author does a wonderful job breaking the trail down into manageable day hikes. He goes to great lengths describing directions to trailheads, water sources, parking, trail conditions, etc. Day Hiking the Appalachian Trail in Georgia is a great resource for anyone considering this adventure. New gear alert!!:

After many, many miles of hiking with my trusty trekking poles, I have finally upgraded. I decided to go with the Cascade Mountain Tech poles and so far I am impressed with the quality and low price. My old poles were twist lock and on my last hike with them, one of the twist locks failed and the pole collapsed. The new Cascade Mountain Tech poles are lever lock and seem to be sturdier. All in all, the Cascades seem to be a quality built set of poles that won't break the bank. That's always a good thing, right?
