Had an hour to spare while waiting for to finish her dance class. Decided to chill out at .

The cappuccino was tasty and had good texture. Reminded me of chocolates and toffee. Bringing home a bag of Benchmark to try to replicate at my home bar ☕️

Hidden Gem 💎 |
Found this hidden gem coffee shop, in Kaslo, BC

They serve on drip and on espresso bar. Loved the vintage looking espresso machine. The cappuccino texture was silky and tasted notes of honey and floral. If you are not a coffee person, they also have other latte, like Ube latte and Turmeric latte.

To pair with the amazing drinks was the perfect brunch menu pair up. 🥚

The Brioche buns were heavenly soft, and the avocado tasted so fresh! 😋

Check them out if you are ever around Ainsworth Hotspring, Kaslo is only ~20minutes North. 🧭

Orea V3 x Kinto Carafe |
It has been about a month since I picked up the Orea from RougueWave. As first impression, they were much lighter than I thought, but without compromising durability. 💪

I had to grind finer than usual (compared with V60/Origami).
But it is amazing how fast the flow rate is.🤯
The taste is rich and bold, so yum!

Pairing the Orea V3 with the Kinto carafe was a no-brainer. Love how minimalistic the who set up looks.

What is your favourite recipe for the Orea V3? Let me know down below! I am still trying to figure out one that works best for me.

Kelowna Road Trip Pt. 1 🚗 |
and I were en route to Kelowna to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary, we had to stop by at at Chilliwack. I first heard of them from Beanstock 2022 and saw go there when he was in town, too!

They did not disappoint! My wife got a Raspberry Mocha. It was silky, creamy, and had a hint of Raspberry jam taste. Would 10/10 recommend this seasonal drink!

I had their nitro cold brew on tap, and it was so refreshing! I tasted notes of red fruits and caramel. The nitrogen always brings so much texture! 😋 ☕️

Bio Innovation Process Caturra |
Have you tried the bio innovation process method? I haven't either, and that's why I was so intrigued to give the La Palma y El Tucan roasted by a try.

I was able to taste the grapefruit and subtle bubblegum notes. Like the hubba bubba gum (iykyk). 🍬

Overall, this is a very sweet brew with a strong body and low acidity. 😋

Aside from showcasing latte art and workflow, I plan to showcase product photography of coffee and coffee gear. Hit me up if you want your product featured. 📷

Maru Coffee ☕️ |
I am grateful to get to try when a friend brought it back from LA. When I don’t know what origin to try, Ethiopia is always a good choice.

I have been brewing this coffee using V60 and Origami Air, and it delivers a balanced body and mild acidity. I get some chocolate and floral notes.

It has been lovely to brew this every morning.

Speaking of coffee from LA, I will be making a trip there in June. Any coffee shop/restaurant suggestions?

Coffee Specs:
•Ethiopia Banko Gotiti
•Gedeb District, Gedeo Zone
•Heirloom, Washed Process
•Chocolate, Lavender, Pear

IKAPE FAMILY ☕️ |
The Gravity Distributor was just added to my espressi puck prep family. It ensures that my grounds are evenly distributed before I tamp it. Now there's virtually no chance my tamp will be uneven (tilted left, right, front and back). Plus, who doesn't like to spin to win? (iykyk)

Stay tune for a new puck prep reel with me demonstrating the Gravity Distributor. 🎥

Thanks, , for letting me try this! ☕️

On The Go Coffee - Electric Coffee Grinder |

For the past few days, I daily drove the new portable electric grinder from
My first impression is that it is a sleek-looking portable electric grinder that is easy to use.

It came fully charged, so I was able to test it immediately. I was able to adjust the grind size for a moka pot and for some pourover (e.g., V60 and Origami). You press the power button, and it starts grinding immediately with a blue indicator light. Once all the beans have been ground, it will grind another couple of seconds before turning off itself. In total, it took about 2 minutes to grind medium fine (for V60). Which was about the same time as you would grinding on a Hario grinder. Which made sense, since they are both ceramic burr grinders.

Thanks for letting me test this out, I’m excited to bring this out to the wild and do some outdoor brew next!

Specifications:
Hopper Capacity: 25g
Ceramic burr set
18 cm height x 7.5 cm diameter
1250 mAh Lithium-ion battery rechargeable via USB-C
Adjustable grind size k**b

Luna Coffee, SL28, Kenya |

This is part of Luna Coffee's Juicebox series, and boy, oh boy, was this juicy! It also had a honey sweetness and balanced acidity. I got notes of pomegranates, honey, and light florals. It was also my first time trying the Varietal SL28 & SL34, and I don't think it will be my last.

Producer: Othaya Co-op (Ichamama)
Origin: Nyeri, Kenya

Tasting notes: Pomegranate, bing cherry & herbal rosehip

My new job starts at 7am, and that doesn't leave me much time to make coffee at home before going to work. My solution was to bring a small coffee set up to work.

I chose the and my C2 grinder and some medium roast beans from and use the regular kettle at work

So far I'm liking this setup, and co-workers started to notice my coffee geekiness 🤓 ☕️

AIYA•OH•NO Cafe |

In Vancouver, the is happening, and and I got to try two very special drinks from aiyaohno cafe.

#05 Obaachan’s Plum Wine Stash
Chocolate combined with non-alcoholic Umeshu plum wine made with Nanico ume plum from Kishu, Japan, served with a non-alcoholic umeshu chocolate truffle

#06 Thomas Glover, The Scottish Samurai
Chocolate combined with flavours of smokey pleated Japanese whisky from The Yoichi Distillery served with a Yoichi pleated whiskey chocolate truffle.

Personally, I enjoyed the whiskey chocolate more, as it warmed up my tummy right away with the slight kick of alcohol. But the innovative combination of plum wine with chocolate was definitely a unique taste and experience.

Come check out their hot chocolate creation until Feb 14! 🍫 ☕️

As I transition into a new job in a new area, I will be missing all the good food and good coffee on West Broadway. To celebrate my last day, I decided to treat myself some beans from , one of the better café nearby, imo.

Did you know? When you buy beans you get a free cup of drip? Also if you BYO mug, your drink is $0.25 cheaper 😉

Oh and their cheese scone (heated) is AMAZING! 😋

Eggnog Latte |
Growing up I wasn’t a huge fan of eggnog, but recently, my workplace had a waffle and eggnog party. A co-worker used the work espresso machine and made one for me, it was actually pretty good! This gave me the inspiration to try one with my GCP. Coincidentally, Costco had it on sale for $3.99 for a carton. So, let’s get down to business!

☕️Recipe:
▪️18g %Arabica espresso blend, ▪️36g out in ~33sec
▪️Mix 120ml 2% milk with 120ml eggnog (1:1 ratio)
▪️Steam the mixture
Pour your best latte art
▪️Sprinkle cinnamon powder of your choice
▪️Enjoy

This recipe is less noggy, for those that don’t like it too strong. Let me know if you try this if you don’t like eggnog, let me know what holiday drink you like in the comments below.

%ΔRΔBICΔ - Kyoto (Coffee in Japan) |

When I visited their flagship store in Higashiyama, Kyoto, I got the Kyoto Latte. I found out later that this is their take on the Spanish latte (A latte sweetened with condensed milk). They claim their Kyoto latte is perfectly sweetened, and they weren't wrong at all! The first sip was velvety smooth, sweet and floral. It was so good that we had to take a pause to enjoy it slowly amidst the busy crowd. You can find the Kyoto Latte at any of their store worldwide, I highly recommend you trying it!

A little bit about %ΔRΔBICΔ, the founder Kenneth Shoji had a huge passion for coffee, so he borrowed money and bought a coffee farm in Hawaii and started trading green coffee. Then he also became the distributor of Slayer, a top tier espresso machine. This is also the machine used in all their stores. Then in 2014, he opened a flagship store in the Kyoto, Japan. This store is located on the traditional Higashiyama, one of the city’s best-preserved historic districts, where narrow lanes, wooden buildings, and traditional merchant shops invoke a feeling of the old capital city.

Will you check this place out in your next trip to Kyoto, Japan? 🇯🇵☕️

Back to Traditional ☕️ |
While in Toronto, I picked up a can of Arabica Selection Ethiopia beans from . They also had Brazil and Columbia beans, but like most people here, I got hooked into specialty coffee with a certain wash Ethiopian coffee. I thought let’s try some Italian classics for a change. I was going to brew these with my mokapot, but I decided to pull shots with my Gaggia Classic Pro instead.

As expected, these Ethiopian beans were floral and I tasted some brown sugar sweetness. It had a balanced body and was not overly bitter. Though, it did take me a little while to dial it in (I’m still an espresso newbie). A few downsides were that it only displays an expiration date and not a roast date, so I had no clue how fresh this was. But again, it's in a can..

But, would I try this again? Oh definitely! Maybe actually brewing it with a mokapot.

Let me know if you would try them.

Nobody start off being able to pour the perfect latte art right off the bat. It is easy to envy others with all their nice pours. Posted here is one of the better pour I was able to do. I call it the "Fat tulip". It's not perfect, but I am proud of it.

If you are also learning how to pour latte art, don't be afraid of mistakes and failure, it js all part of the process of a moment of joy that you will feel when you improve 😊

2022-S1 Coffee Haul |
Most people do an annual review of all the coffee they have tried. But, I decided to do a semi-annual review and to reflect about this year to date.

This year has been long and tough enough already with all the negative global events that have been happening. It may seem to be hard to take time to relax and tune out for a second. But I am thankful for this hobby that I routinely give myself time and space to wind down and enjoy a cup of coffee.

I loved all the varieties of coffee, origins, and roasters I got to try in the past ~6 months. I am feeling grateful for all the farmers that put all their heart and soul in cultivating the coffee cherries the roasters that roasted each bean to their potential and all the people in between that ultimately got the beans into my home.

Let's see what another 6 month will bring! Cheers ☕️
