Does anyone do anything special around Christmas time? Do you go to anyplace special to see lights? A Christmas walk maybe? any family traditions? If so we'd love to hear some. I know at one time the Pumpkin patch turned into the Christmas patch but I don't think that happens any more.

It is that time a year again. Thanksgiving in a couple of weeks, and Christmas right around the corner. We have a lot of down on their luck families in our area, and this is a time for giving and donating.

If you are in a good position, and can help local families in need this year, please give what you can, food, toys, bedding, warm clothes, ect. We have a great organization in Capron that is always there to distribute and help the families in our community. Now more than ever they need your help.
Please do what you can to help others, stop the hate and the judgments.

I was wondering, how many of you are the traditionally stay at home and cook type? or do you go to a restaurant and leave the cooking and the clean up to them? With the higher food prices this year, I wonder if it would almost be cheaper to go out. I persona;;y have done both.

Happy Halloween! Did everyone have a good night? I'm just curious how many trick or treaters you had in Poplar Grove. I read one person on Carson Drive area had 95, while on north state street I heard only had 5 to 10. What about you and your location?

Hello Followers. I came across Edgar county watchdogs page once again saying the PG audit found reckless spending with credit cards, which was a lie. They say the Audit was done from 2019 til 2023 which is also a lie. It was for 2022 and 2023 all which was during Don's Presidents term. So I'd like to give you something to think about. A what if situation! Because this cost us the tax payers way more than $25k. I'll post that at a later date.

Well, folks here we go. This was the purposed $25,000 plus so-called forensic audit, and this draft was not approved as it was filled with errors.
First and foremost, page one clearly states that the audit is in 2022 and 2023, which is Donald Sattler's watch not Owen Costanza's.
It is odd that Edgar County, despite being contacted several times about Don's arrest still refused to acknowledge the criminal charges and order of protection filed against Don.
The question was asked at the beginning of the meeting, if any fraud or wrong doing was committed, and the answer was no.
Now that this comes to light, how this forensic came about let's review.
Kristi Richardson has already said that she would not have voted for the audit, as she personally reviewed the books and did not see any wrong doing.
With Kristi on the board, Don did not have the votes. Kristi quit the board because she was overwhelmed and overworked.
Paving the way for Bruce Moore to be on the board as a new trustee giving Don complete control of the board with the 3 Henchmen in place.
Now let's look back at this week's meeting, before the meeting there was a verbal altercation between Bruce Moore and Clerk Karrie Miller over the village not giving out petitions this election. Apparently, even Betsy Straw was involved, until the village attorney told them that many municipalities do not give out packets.
After the meeting, people saw Kristi Richardson and her husband run up to Bruce Moore after the meeting and seemed very friendly.
So in the realm of things, what if Kristi quitting was the plan all along, allowing Don to appoint Bruce Moore to help with the continuing political attack on the village? Then they now work with Kriti to help her get elected, while she claimed she would not sling mud. But what if they sling it for her??
I'd also like to point out that Kristi, Don and Betsy are all in the Lions club together, thanks to Don. ……Things that Make you go hmmmmm.

Hello Followers. Don, the village President of Poplar Grove has court tomorrow in Boone county to face his criminal charges. He has retained one of the better criminal law firms in Rockford to represent his case. At least now we know were all that non returned Presidents pay will be going, seeing how it was never given back to us as promised. Don accused others for years of wrong doings and cost us plenty of village money, now we at least know that no one is above the law and everyone has issues. Speaking of costing us money, I hear our new attorney bill is sky rocketing all to do with Don's little vendetta. More to follow on this as I can dig up more information. This new attorney for the village was also Don's doing. It will be almost double a year what our last attorney was. I guess when it's not your money and you have the board stacked in your favor, this is what happens. Just remember election time what Don and his 3 appointees did to us all.

Last nights board meeting. Well at least it was more civil. Austin Davies true colors came out once again, no compassion for anyone. I mean it was misinformation put out by public works to run your bath tub for at least 30 min. This statement was wrong and did nothing to help the issue at hand. Then communication between the village President and the community was about as poor as it gets, him telling residents to look it up themselves.

So instead of giving a across the board credit of some kind to the effected areas, Austin wants to take each case individually so he can have the options to reject people. I for one can not wait till this guy is gone.

Also in the meeting, Don wants private executive session information released so he can some how use it in his court case. Why do we have executive sessions if it is that easy to get the information and to share it in the court of law? Owen was the only one who voted no to protect the village against any repercussions this may cause, all the others went along with yes votes.

Don has court on Monday to face his charges, I'm sure he will probably try to represent himself and deflect as he always does, blaming others for his actions. It should be interesting to say the least.

I see two of our candidates for Village trustee were at the meeting last night, that would be Mark Vance and Dave Allgood, nice they show interest in the position they are running for. Yet Kristi who is running for Village President was MIA. Also the other running Candidate Suzan Earp has never been present in a meeting.
