Maoan, Beyond Gaming's mid laner was officially banned from competing for the rest of Worlds 2021 for having leaked ban/pick information of his team for a gambling party. Maoan will possibly suffer extra punishments (LoL Esports). Evidences presented include:

- A chat log showing that Maoan (left) is talking to a gambler (right): "Sylas and Orianna, but don't bet too much on them, they are only likely picked, not certainly"
- The person who screenshot the chat log deleted the post
- Dinter - Beyond Gaming's owner revealed his decision to fire Maoan on his private stream

Maoan is a second "hard carry" player in the tournament to have trouble after Doggo's counterpart. Beyond Gaming now has no reserve mid laner in the game against Hanwha Life eSports today. Chances are, PK and Liang, one of the team's top laners, will have to shift to mid lane.
