Happy Monday Friends! I am late getting this message out to seek your help with my yearly project. Unfortunately, I have been recovering since the end of January from having some surgery to repair a partially torn bicep. It's been a challenge to navigate the past several months, but I am ready to get back into the swing of things.
That being said, I am seeking your help to support our Homeless Veterans with the Annual "Stand Down" event being held at the Harrisburg Farm Show Complex on April 6th. This event is organized to help support all Homeless, In Need, and At Risk Veterans. We have been blessed to partner up with the Y.W.C.A. of Greater Harrisburg to provide supplies to those in need. We started assisting in this event a few years ago and love being a partner to support those that have given everything they had, to supporting our Country and then falling on hard times. Orth Entertainment is so very fortunate to be able to provide the music and MC services for the day to help fill the room with some "normalcy" for those attending, and with your support, we also provide tons of needed items. This year I am behind getting the collection process underway, but am seeking your help!
Each year we fill bags with toiletries, personal hygiene, snacks, water, and even some cards from local children that have been written to give our Veterans a personal "Thank You" for their service. I will list the items below that we are in need of, to fill our bags. Also, the folks that are attending this event are not all necessary homeless. Last year we were able to provide a family that was moving into an apartment, tons of necessary items to help get them started. Some of this items consisted of cleaning supplies, bed sheets, pillows, and small kitchenware items. There are those that are starting from nothing, so anything will help! If there is something that your business produces or sells, that you think our Veterans could use, we would be happy to connect those items to the most deserving folks in need. Additionally, socks, t-shirts, underwear, jeans, sneakers, etc, are also all useful. I do ask that these items are New please if you plan to donate them.
I have attached my Venmo if you would like to donate to the cause, I truly appreciate it! I will be purchasing the needed items on Monday April 1st, and assembling the bags for the April 6th event. Again, I know we are a little behind, but we appreciate your help in this project. I promise you, these folks are so very appreciative of the items they receive. We are just a small part of this amazing day! Our Veterans are getting some additional much needed support coming from our amazing friends at Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania. Their Tiny Home community will have their ribbon cutting coming up very soon and filling these homes to help support our Veterans in need. Orth Entertainment will be a part of the Ribbon Cutting, and also their official Opening Day! We can't wait to see the finished product. I appreciate your support and love from you all. The items we are seeking are not full size bottles please. These travel sized / personal sized items are easily obtainable from the dollar store, Walmart, Target, etc. The Individual size items, personal use sizes are truly perfect as all the items need to fit into small backpacks for those taking the bags. Thanks in advance!! Needed Items: Shampoo, bars of soap, shaving cream, razors, packages of body wipes, tissues, mens and ladies deodorant, q-tips, toothbrushes and toothpaste, individual snacks, bottled water, individual hand sanitizer, pens, sharpies, small note pads, ibuprofen, small flashlights, laundry pods, laundry sheets, individual first aid kits, lip care, hair ties, combs, and water flavoring packets.
