Access to certain areas is important.
Knowing where to access and when is something we aim to capture and include in our maps.
These signs 500m apart are important even though it gives you access to the same beach, pedestrian levels are higher at the no access sign

A break in Darwin allowed us to put some maintenance time into the vehicle before hitting the road for the next leg into Kakadu and Coburg Peninsula.

We have been busy in the first 10 days of our NT field Trip.
Plenty of new and updated points of interest and roads information.
Not our original planned route after we found one major closure

Did you know as part of our field capture program we use additional people in the field called the Map Patrol Alpha Team.
The team have captured a large volume of data over the past month.
They not only validate existing roads but capture and update Points of Interest as well.
All the data they collect feeds into our database which is then used to generate online, app and print maps.

Ever wondered what tech we run inside the car while we are out capturing data that feeds back into our maps?
We always have our HX2 running.
To capture content we use Esri Field Maps which feeds back into our core systems
Here the team are running dual systems streaming road and track data while also capturing points of interest and track notes on the other system.
Thanks to our Starlink system installed by Outback Comms we can push the data back up live and the team in the office can keep track of what we capture.

The little orange line in the middle of the map is our Map Patrol team rolling into Big Red Bash from Birdsville.
They've started the trek North heading to Boulia
What they collect goes into making our basemap even better for all your journeys

To keep us connected while out in remote areas we've added to the LC79 for our upcoming field mapping trip.
This upgrade will allow our Map Patrol team to provide near realtime data updates back to head office. It will also allow us to come up with some new and unique data acquisition processes to get data to you faster.
Big thanks to Outback Comms for the rugged install. Check them out if you plan on adding Starlink to your rig.
