A Son of a Pimp" is a powerful memoir that traces the remarkable journey of my mother, a woman of unparalleled resilience and strength. Born into a challenging environment, she faced and overcame the stigma of being married to a pimp without ever being a pr******te herself. Determined to forge a better life, she left my father and broke racial barriers by becoming the first Black manager at Saks Fifth Avenue.
Relocating from Detroit to St. Louis, she single-handedly raised three children, navigating the tumultuous waters of sexual harassment and discrimination. Her unyielding dedication ensured I received a quality education, culminating in my graduation from Notre Dame and a successful career representing some of the world's top athletes.
Now retired, I am proud to see my daughter take the mantle, representing leading entertainers li, achieving in half the time what took me a lifetime. This memoir isn't just a recounting of personal and professional triumphs; it's a testament to the power of legacy. It underscores the significance of building enduring legacies within the Black community, and in all communities worldwide encouraging individuals to rise above their circumstances and create impactful, lasting change.
Through detailed accounts of contract negotiations and behind-the-scenes stories of prominent athletes, and legal cases "A Son of a Pimp" offers valuable insights into the courts, sports and entertainment industries. Yet, at its core, it remains a heartfelt tribute to my mother, whose unwavering spirit and profound influence shaped an extraordinary family legacy. This book aims to inspire and empower.
