MOVE TO SITE OR LOSE YOUR CONTRACT - URBAN ROAD DIRECTOR

The Upper West Regional Director for urban roads, Mr Frank Osei Sekyere this morning sent a strong signal to all contractors who have not yet moved to site or completed their drains projects risk losing the projects in a week.

He gave the warning during a brief meeting with the contractors to let them appreciate the need to move to site after the three month project duration period has elapsed with relevant citation from the law governing road projects.
He also added that, their inability to execute or complete these projects are having serious consequences on the already completed road projects and Lawra may also end up losing the developmental projects from central government if they're unable to exhaust the budget.

The projects were awarded in 2020 to over 100 contractors to construct drains, culverts , beams etc by the then MP for Lawra, Hon Anthony Abayifaa Karbo to give Lawra roads a face lift and also prevent the perennial flooding and destruction to our properties.

The Hon MCE who was the guest briefly told the people present that termination and reawardimg to capable contractors will be the ultimate decision to have these projects executed. He added that, out of about the GH¢17 million budgeted for Lawra roads only about 20% of this budget had been utilised due to the refusal of contractors to go to site. He therefore pleaded with them to try and gather resources to execute their respective projects within the time frame given to avoid them being terminated.

He also advised them to eschew pettiness and sabotage saying that some people refused to honour the contracts because of the lies people created that the former MP, Hon Anthony Abayifaa Karbo only brought the projects to scam people for votes.
