Hello all!

This is your new District Publisher for the upcoming year. My name is Emma Gracyk, and I am a brother of the Iota Pi chapter at Cal Poly SLO. I am SO excited to be your 2018-2019 publisher and am super excited for next year!

I hope everyone's summer has been fantastic so far! Moving into this next year, I would love for all of you to start thinking about and reflect on any of your brotherhood/sisterhood experiences you have had this summer--whether it be at a drum corps show, a beach day meet up, or even a coffee date with a brother/sister! This is also a good time to reflect on yourself as a brother/sister and think of some goals you may have for this year. Take some time to jot down your thoughts and snap some pictures to share with The Accent for the very first issue! Submissions will be due Aug 31.

Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Western District,

I would like to present to you the final issue of The Accent for my term as your District Publisher. It has been a pleasure to read your stories and serve you all by sharing them with the rest of your Siblings from the district to the national level.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS!

The Western District Convention is coming up soon and The Accent's "Best of Spring" issue is looking for your stories about your chapter, district, or even your own growth as a Brother or Sister! Submissions are due April 14th, and must be NO LONGER than 1000 words. If you would like to submit a non-orthodox article (such as a poem, collage, or other format), email me at [email protected] and we can make arrangements!
When you email me your article, don't forget to attach any accompanying photos as well as captions to give context to all of them.

If you volunteered to write about your respective States' Days, you now have until April 14th to get them to me for this issue! ^_^ I will be messaging you all as a reminder, and will reserve a page each for each of you!

I can't wait to read what you have to say!

It's TIME - for a new year, new goals, and new experiences - whether they be bowl games or district events! The Accent's "Best of Winter" issue is looking for your stories about your chapter, district, or even your own growth as a Brother or Sister! Submissions are due January 20th, and must be NO LONGER than 1000 words. Hello Western District! I hope your summer is going well?

For this next issue of The Accent, please turn in all articles, photos, and brother/sister shout-outs to [email protected] by August 31st!

Here are some ideas for what to write:

- I went to [this event] with brothers and/or sisters, and this is what happened! Here are some photos, too!
- While playing Pokemon Go one day I was struck by a revelation about the brotherhood/sisterhood/bond...
- I met an incredible brother/sister this summer, and I want to give a shout-out to them!
- This past year, my chapter put on a successful service event/fundraiser, and this is how we did it...
- Here is a historical tidbit about my chapter/our district!
-........and nearly anything else!**

**The Accent is a publication that is available to the Internet-Public, so be mindful about how the content you submit represents our organizations, and utilize your chapter (and me!) to proofread it to completion. Same goes for if you have an idea but have no clue how to turn it into a fully-fledged article!

Note: IF there are multiple submissions of stories from the same events, (such as SD4), I may contact you about using only an excerpt for The Accent magazine, but still publishing the full article on the website.

Hello Western District! :D What are you all up to this summer?

Former WD Publisher Hannah Giardina and I met up for the San Francisco Pride Parade today, and while she even offered to share her sunscreen, I turned her down and paid the price by allowing my shoulders to be gently roasted. :S Still, had an amazing time and I wish her all the best on what sounds like the rest of an epic road trip! :0

Have you met up with a brother or sister this summer for an adventure? If so, I'd LOVE to hear about it in the comments below!

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This is Holly Chan, your new Publisher for this next year!

While summer for many of us is going to be a break from school, it sure isn't a break from brotherhood or sisterhood! For those of you going to SD4, Washington Weekend or any other events, please take some time in the future to jot down your thoughts, experiences, or capture some moments with photos in preparation for the next issue of The Accent. It is my job to give you a cohesive avenue for YOU to tell YOUR stories, and I am *SO* excited to read them! (I will be calling for submissions officially later on this summer.)

Did you have a good summer? The next issue of The Accent is going to be all about what brothers and sisters have done this summer.
If you participated in SD4, Washington Weekend, and/or NatCon, please write an article, and/or send me photos with little blurbs of what you are doing in the photos from those events.
Also, there is going to be a new section filled with shoutouts to brother, sisters, and chapters throughout our lovely district. So, if you want to spread some MLITB, please send it my way :)

We are very proud to welcome back the Alpha Alpha Chapter to the Western District! Be sure to congratulate them at https://www.facebook.com/aakkpsi!

The seventh installation of the 2013-2015 biennium, The Alpha Alpha chapter at The University of Nevada-Reno was installed on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at The University of Nevada campus in Reno. This was a reactivation of the 25th chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi.

National Board of Trustees Member, Eric Morson, served as the installing officer for the 10 colony members. A special thanks to Past WD President, Charlene Ronne, for serving as the advising person, and the Iota Kappa chapter at Boise State University for serving as the advising chapter.

The Installation was well attended an included brothers from the Psi, Gamma Kappa, Delta Omicron, Iota Alpha, Iota Kappa, Lambda Alpha, and Theta Nu chapters.
