There is a lot of division these days, especially within the past decade. The rhetoric from both sides of the political spectrum here in the US has been abhorrent, and unfortunately, led to the assassination attempt on Former President, and Republican nominee Donald Trump. I have heard from both sides over the past 4 years the statement, “if (X candidate/party) gets elected, this will be our last election before society collapses.”
We put so much stock into this type of rhetoric that when it comes to voting for our local offices, which are the ones that truly matter, we vote based on political affliction rather than who will truly get the job done and represent the voice and vision of their constituents. Many of our communities are falling behind because we are choosing leaders based on whether a “R” or “D” follows their name.
Well, continuing to only have the same two choices will not create the kind of difference we need to get our communities back on track and begin to heal from the problems that truly impact us…
That is why I, Colton James Maccune, am announcing my candidacy as an independent for Michigan District 43 for 2026.
I have spent my entire life living within this community, and have watched leaders fail to significantly address the Addiction Crisis, the deficit in our education rates, or the lack of economic opportunity. Our roads are repaired poorly and are littered with trash.
Nothing changes. And I can’t promise everything will change if I take office, but I can give you my assurance that I will fight like hell to get the problems addressed and your voices heard.
This is a great community, and it’s time we finally give it the voice it deserves and the help it needs!
Vote Colton for Reform 2026!
