Dune has made a healthy start at the international box office, but this alone doesn’t guarantee its financial success. The upcoming science-fiction epic is the first of a planned two-part adaption of Frank Herbert’s seminal 1965 novel and features an all-star cast including Timothée Chalamet, Josh Brolin, and Zendaya. The prospects of greenlighting the sequel, however, as well as other spin-offs, rests on the performance of the film both at the box office and HBO Max. Director Denis Villeneuve has publicly criticized the decision to release the film on the streaming service.

While the series of novels it's based on is well regarded, Dune's clout as a cinematic franchise is still to be determined. David Lynch's 1984 attempt was a critical and financial bomb, receiving negative reviews and grossing only $30.9 million from a $40 million budget. A television series in 2000 fared better at the time but has long since faded from public consciousness.

Stephen Chbosky’s adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen, based on the Broadway show of the same name, features a beautiful soundtrack. The 2021 movie cut several songs from the Broadway show and added a few new ones, but overall, the musical's tone is not affected by these changes. The most iconic track from the musical remained, while some of the new songs are used to flesh out supporting characters.

The songs in Dear Evan Hansen are written by famous musical duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, whose other songwriting credits include La La Land and The Greatest Showman. While many of the songs in those musicals are more upbeat, Dear Evan Hansen features more heartfelt ballads. These slower tracks largely highlight the main character Evan, played Ben Platt, who reprises his Tony-award-winning role from the Broadway show.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage director Andy Serkis says he'd like Venom to meet more villains before he meets Spider-Man. Venom: Let There Be Carnage is the follow-up to 2018's Venom, which became a surprise hit for Sony, making a sequel inevitable. Actor/director Andy Serkis directs the film, which once again stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom, with Woody Harrelson in an expanded role as Cletus Kasady/Carnage, who was teased in the post-credits scene of the first film.

In addition to Carnage, Naomie Harris will star as Shriek, another villainous symbiote character from Marvel's Spider-Man comics line, who is one of many criminals locked up in the Ravencroft Institute in the film. Ravencroft is similar to DC's Arkham Asylum, in that it houses and experiments on super-powered villains who can't be contained in a normal prison. The area in New York where the fictional institute is built has a rich and dark history, which is documented in the journals of its founder, Jonas Ravencroft. Since its inception in the comics, Ravencroft has housed everyone from Carnage to Doctor Octopus to Juggernaut to Vulture and beyond.

Sam Raimi's cult classic horror movie The Evil Dead is returning to theaters 40 years after it premiered in 1981. In it, a group of friends led by Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) travels to a remote cabin in the woods, where they accidentally resurrect an ancient demonic force. The independent film's initial success gave birth to an ongoing franchise of movies and TV shows, the latest of which, Evil Dead Rise, will stream on HBO Max next year.

Fathom Events has announced that The Evil Dead will be screened in movie theaters across the country in celebration of the film's 40th anniversary. The movie will run for one night only on October 7 at 7:30 p.m. local time. Grindhouse Releasing and Fathom Events are jointly responsible for the event, which includes an exclusive introduction from Bruce Campbell. Tickets can be purchased at Fathom Events' website or from participating theaters.

A new fan video has imagined how Donkey Kong could sound with Seth Rogen's iconic laugh. It was recently announced that Rogen has been cast in the upcoming film, MARIO, an adaptation of the iconic Nintendo game Super Mario Bros, as the voice of Donkey Kong. The character of Donkey Kong is a gorilla, known for being a bit of a brute, and was one of Mario's earliest antagonists within the highly-popular Nintendo franchise. Though the character is known for his many appearances throughout the Super Mario games over the years, Donkey Kong was actually the protagonist in his own arcade game, Donkey Kong first, a game in which Mario actually made his debut.

The upcoming MARIO boasts an incredibly stacked voice cast alongside Rogen. Chris Pratt is set to star as Mario himself, with Charlie Day tapped to play his brother Luigi. Anya Taylor-Joy will voice Princess Peach and Jack Black will voice another of Mario's foes, Bowser. Following the announcement that Rogen would be portraying the fan-favorite character, many began to speculate whether Donkey Kong would share a certain Rogen trademark. The Pineapple Express actor is known for his rather unique laugh and has become the subject of a number of memes and Yout=Tube compilations over the years, due to its distinct and contagious nature.
