1025 AM 6/6 - Overall quieter weather is on the board today as the last of the activity responsible for yesterday's severe weather pushes east.
More rain showers may develop this afternoon, especially across our northern areas in part due to the cooler air aloft and thus an increase in mid-level instability. A rumble of thunder or two can't be ruled out, but severe weather is NOT anticipated with any activity today.
Those that don't see rain will remain under Mostly to Partly Sunny skies. A cooler temperature trend starts today with temps in the lower to middle 70s for most of us, with some upper 70s around Metro Detroit.

1017 AM 5/11 - The widespread rain from early this morning has pushed east, leaving additional scattered light rain showers mainly near/east of US-131. Those light rain showers will continue through the afternoon hours before slowly pulling away this evening as the system moves away.
Skies will clear later this afternoon/this evening from west to east (except for the Thumb), providing possible additional Northern Light viewing opportunities tonight for some of us.

1143 PM 5/10 - Showers and a few embedded thunderstorms are tracking off to the south and east and will be moving onshore over the next hour or so.
Expect clouds to hamper Northern Lights viewing from west to east over the next few hours. #miwx #michigan #weather
1046 AM 5/9 - The rain is in the region this morning, however it is a little further south than originally forecast.
While rain chances will remain for the entire area south of US-10, the heaviest totals will be near and south of the I-96 corridor. A few rumbles of thunder also remain possible but severe weather is NOT anticipated. #miwx #michigan #weather
9:00 AM 4/29 - A Level 1/5 risk for severe weather has been added across parts of Southeast Lower into the Thumb region for this afternoon.
If we do end up seeing severe thunderstorms developing, localized damaging wind gusts would be the main threat. Although a much lower threat, some storms could also develop rotation with the shear forecast to be in place.

Severe Weather is possible this evening into the overnight hours tonight. Have multiple ways of receiving any potential watches and warnings tonight. #MIwx
247 PM - The latest model guidance has trended toward a less impactful solution for this weekend's storm. Rain showers late Friday into Saturday and light lake-effect snow Sunday into Monday. The high wind threat has decreased as well.
A few ensemble members still show a stronger system and a band of synoptic snow. While we shouldn't completely let our guard down as there's still time for things to change, the overall trend is a decreasing threat of high-impact weather this weekend across the Southern Lower Michigan region.

7:47 PM - Rain and gusty winds a short time ago in Downtown Holland as the frontal line made its way through. A sign of things to come for the rest of the region as the front continues to make its way through the region this evening.
Things currently are and should remain under severe limits this evening, but we'll monitor just in case. #MIwx

POSTED 10:26 AM MON 8/14
Mostly dry this morning, with increasing clouds across the area.
It will be a different story later this afternoon, as widespread rain begins to move into the area. Multiple rounds of rain are anticipated tonight into our Tuesday.
Some of this rain will be heavy at times, which does bring in concerns of Localized Flooding especially in low-lying and poor drainage areas. The area remains in a Level 1 to Level 2 risk of Excessive Rainfall today and tonight.

1054 AM - Radar/Satellite composite showing light rain continuing mainly south of I-96 but gradually fading away. Clearing being noted near and north of I-96, which will serve to destabilize the atmosphere ahead of this evening's storms. #MIwx
Overall consensus of high-resolution model guidance from this morning continue to suggest shower and thunderstorm potential Sunday afternoon and evening, some of which may be strong to severe.
While some differences exist regarding timing and strength, most models suggest storms firing mid to late afternoon, eventually converging into a line as they continue to push east.
Damaging winds continue to remain the primary hazard with any storms that do become severe. Some large hail and a low-end tornado threat will be possible as well, especially with any discrete storms that may form.
An update to the day 2 severe weather outlook from the Storm Prediction Center will be out soon, and that will be shared here as it is released.

Satellite + Radar composites this morning showing clouds overspreading a good part of the region, with some areas of light rain over some of our Eastern areas.
Look for this pattern to continue through the daylight hours today at least on a scattered basis, especially for our eastern areas (Flint/Ann Arbor/Detroit). Our western areas will see less in the way of clouds and shower activity today.
Highs today will range from the lower 70s in our eastern areas (more clouds/rain) to the lower 80s for some of our western areas such as Muskegon and Grand Rapids (less clouds/rain activity).

Clouds and rain showers look to stick around the area today. High temperatures ranging from the upper 30's to the middle 40's.
Watching an area of rain beginning to push into the region as we head into this afternoon. A brief period of freezing rain can't be ruled out in our far northern areas, but no major impacts are anticipated. High temperatures today in the upper 30's to lower 40's.

Clouds and areas of light rain showers continue to hang on this afternoon. Wide range of temperatures currently with low to middle 40's near the Lake Michigan shoreline to middle to upper 50's in Southeast Lower.
