I remember being swamped with doubts - 2 months ago. 😰
I made a commitment to myself to learn as much as possible about feature filmaking & documentaries in the next 3 months. 💫
So I invested 6 thousand dollars into a 10 week filmaking intensive at New York Film Academy within 3 days of finding out about it. 🫣
4 days to pack up my stuff.
5 days to find accomodation.
Leaving behind wonderful friends, and opportunities in Sydney.
Was I throwing it away? 🙄
Was this an impulsive decision that I would regret? 😵💫
Is there a better place to invest my money? 😦
Every decsion has its drawbacks… but:
- I’ve had conversations that I believe will save my clients, customers and me at least 30k+ in the future.
- I’ve formed priceless relationships with feature film directors & fellow students from all over the world.
- Acted in 4 short films.
- Directed & Written a short film.
- Created a documentary script I’m excited to produce & direct.
- Worked with great equipment.
Are there things that can improve about the course…..
There are soo many 😂😊… But I don’t regret coming - and will just apply the learnings if I build my own film school in the future. 😉
2nd Photo below - Vincent Verdi feature film & T.V director, cinematographer. He has been a great source of wisdom around cinematography, saftey on set, lighting, working with actors and he has the most infectious laugh I know.
3rd photo - is with my fellow filmmakers who I am very grateful to have met, and am excited to see what they create in the future.
