If I’m not mistaken, the onus & burden of proof is on him as a public figure; it’s only defamation if they can prove that it is actually false and show how it harmed his reputation.

(*This already seems like an uphill battle, given that his reputation was damaged before the documentaries. At least that’s what I’d argue.)

Honestly, this feels like a frivolous lawsuit with a hope to settle for a fraction of that— probably to pay for all of his mounting legal fees!
Sometimes, big networks, celebrities, and large companies will just settle to avoid the cost of fighting it in court. Defamation cases are a challenge for both sides in the U.S.

Far from causing mayhem, the sheer number of dogs has helped ease the stress of the many guests who either lost their homes or were unsure if they did, said Rosa Schläger, director of sales and marketing for Kimpton properties in L.A.

“All of a sudden you’re surrounded by all these animals,” she said. “It’s quite nice when you see the elevator opening up and you have sweet dogs coming out.”

This is a sad one. ••••• actually, Kyle was hilarious and smart, kind to fans and followers, and really wasn’t “controversial” unless you were someone in a blind item or gossip headline with something to hide, or who feared exposure. so sad though; I knew her through the online entertainment podcasting/social community. (and actually got in an argument with Perez Hilton and some of his fans defending Kyle after he posted something unnecessarily meanspirited about her!) Beautiful Kyle Marisa was such a bright light and natural entertainer & creator, who will be so very missed. 😞 😢 🙏🏼 🕊️ She set a high bar in the space she inhabited in this virtual world. 🫶🏼 🥺 •••• Rest easy, sweet girl!

Update 3/22/24: ETA: The Kate Middleton news is heartbreaking! So many of us knew something was obviously wrong, but honestly hoped we were just being silly or overreacting.
