Sorry for the lack of reviews. We're moving house next week so its been a busy few weeks packing and preparing for that.

I'll still be in Middleton but more towards the Oldham side of it. So if anything, I should be within delivery range of quite a few new takeaways around the Middleton/Oldham border 😋.

Normality will resume in a few weeks when the we've settled in at the new place 😉.

Pizza Season, Middleton - Mega Kebab on Naan, £13.30.

Whilst doing the typical doom scroll of the food delivery apps, trying to convince the misses to try somewhere new. We stumbled across Pizza Season, a name we've seen plenty of times and simply scrolled past it. Luckily the misses was in the mood for a Pizza and it had some good reviews on the app so she was happy to give it a try.

Im a lot less fussy and eager to try new places, more so when they have a Kebab on the menu that costs £10+ and has words like "mega", "king" and "XL" in its name. So as a surprise to absolutely no-one, I opted for the Mega Kebab with a side of chips (this is my go-to just in case the Kebab is small - I can always fill up a bit on the chips), which included Donner, Chicken, Chicken Tikka and Shish.

The Donner - Not a great start at all here i'm afraid. For a Kebab at this price point, i expected a mountain of meat and since the Donner is the cheapest of the included meats here, I expected to see a lot of it. Sadly there want much of it and i'm not too upset about that as it was wet (as if it had been sweating in a bain marie for a while) and had zero taste or texture to it.

The Chicken - This was a bit of a mixed bag really. The Kebab was listed as having 2 pieces of Chicken, Chicken Tikka and Shish, when in reality, it was a small piece of Chicken that looked to have been butterflied and fell into 2 pieces. Whilst its not a lie as yes there was 2 pieces present, it wasnt quite what I expected and felt like i'd been short changed a bit. Anyway, the Chicken was moist and had a nice chargrilled flavour to it. No complaints about the flavour or quality.

The Chicken Tikka - The absolute hero that this meal needed. It was legit really juicy and succulent. It ticked all the boxes for me and id absolutely go for just a Chicken Tikka Kebab if I ever ordered from here again as it was head and shoulders above everything else on the plate.

The Shish - Similar story to the Chicken - It was 2 very small pieces that looked like it was 1 singular piece of shish that had been cut in half to be presented as 2 pieces, not ideal but not really a lie either. Luckily this was also genuinely quite tasty and had a nice zest to it.

The bread - Garbage i'm afraid. This definitely came from a packet and was tasteless.

Salad - It's salad 🤷‍♂️.

Sauces - As standard, I ordered it with Chilli sauce. It didnt taste like anything noteworthy, maybe a different brand to the usual Crucials sauce you see at a lot of places but it definitely didnt taste like it was home made. Meh.

Conclusion - A mixed bag really with an overall experience that left me wanting. The Chicken Tikka was the star of the show here and was legit really nice. However, it was left down quite a bit by lifeless Donner meat, a packet Naan and a little sour taste (metaphorically) due to the portion sizes not quite being what they were listed to be.

Whilst not part of the main review, I feel like I need to also share that the misses really didnt enjoy her Pizza (I think she had 2 slices of it) and her Cheesy Chips were quite burnt on top from spending a little too much time under a grill. Not the end-all of mistakes as its an easy one to make, but more evidence to demonstrate a general lack of care that seemingly went into most of this order.

2024 'This Manc Can Eat' Awards - The best food that has been reviewed this year🏆🍔.

I wasn't able to separate the categories out as I did for last years awards as I've reviewed a lot less due to life being a lot busier these days and our 2nd bundle of joy arriving in May. Hopefully I'll be able to ramp things up a little more in 2025 🙂

MyMasalla (Foxdenton Lane) knocked it out of the park again last night with this curry (Bengali Chicken). I'd legit rate this place as one of the best curry places around, I'm yet to eat any curry from there thats been anything but incredible 👌

For the record, that's Massala sauce left over from the Mrs' curry thats surrounding the main meal. I appreciate it might look like ketchup but its absolutely not 😂.

Again, the elite way of eating a curry - Naan on the bottom with everything stacked on top. This way I get to eat every bit of sauce that's poured out 😉

I randomly bumped into Daddy Cool's Chilli Sauce at the Middleton markets last week and after a bit of a catch up, he very generously gave me these sauces. One of which is a white label sweet chilli sauce that hit the spot nicely 👌

This is exactly why I've calmed down going to these markets though. I have a hot sauce problem as I went through both of these bottles in 4 days! 😂🙈

The post thanks me but that grattitude should be extended to you guys and everyone that took the time to donate anything that could be spared. I know its tough this time of year and bills are becoming ever-increasing joke, so its genuinely appreciated, even if you could only spare £1.

Food donation made 👌

This lot filled 2 shopping trolleys and my car and there's still a little bit of money left over. I was sure to spend a little of it on sweet treats as its Christmas and everyone should have something sweet over the festive period.

I've asked the Lighthouse Project to let me know what they need after the new year and I'll use the rest of the money to help top them up.

Following the visit to Mackie Mayors and having a meal there, we nipped in Super Awesome Deluxe, which has been on my radar for a little while.

A friend jokingly said "I bet you couldn't eat all 3". He knows full well about this page and seemed to have forgotten that its not called" This Manc is Peckish", so I stepped up to the challenge.

They have a limited and simple menu which seems to allow for quick cooking times.

Of the 3 burgers, my favorite was the 'awesome' burger as it was an Oklahoma style burger with sliced onions smashed into the patty. That flavour mixed with the ketchup and mustard gave off a nice fairground burger vibe and I'm all for it.

The burgers arent the biggest and are quite basic with their flavour profile but they were nice and did what they said on the tin, if on the expensive side for what they are (for the size, I'd have expected to pay £6-6.50 tops)

I went to Mackie Mayors with some friends yesterday for our annual catch up. Its basically a food hall with various vendors so you have a wide selection of food to choose from in a single location.

I went for waffle fries, a korean fried chicken burger and some tacos. Prices were definitely higher than I was expecting as in total it came to around £29 and as you can see, that didn't equate to a lot of food for that sort of money.

The waffle fries were nice enough but they were around 6.50 which seemed steep for what looked like about 2 potatoes worth of fries.

The korean chicken burger was average. It was nice but didn't wow me and it had gochujang sauce drizzled on it rather than being dipped in it so each bite was a little inconstent with how it tasted. Again this was over a tenner for a small burger which felt a bit much.

The tacos were garbage. Not only did they take about 10 mins longer to arrive vs the other food. The flavours didn't work at all. One just tasted like of battered fish and corriander and the other one pork and pineapple but it just tasted like freshly cut grass with how much veg, cress and corriander was on it.

It was a nice concept and I'd go again to try some other things but yeah, its expensive for what it is.

I'm happy to report, following a little secret shopper style follow-up, Ian's Donatello's have done what they said they would do and have changed their bread.

The owner Ian (nice name by the way) commented on my review and responding to some of the feedback. One of the stand out points was thay the bread was to be replaced. They've done just that the new stuff is SIGNIFICANTLY nicer 😁

I absolutely need to give a super special shout out to Burger Eats Manchester.

Around 2 weeks ago I had a random message from Burger Eats advising that after seeing my fundraising post to help the foodbank at Lighthouse Project, they would like to donate £300 to the cause.

As this was a significant amount and much more than the target I set. I felt it was only right to arrange for this to be its own, separate donation and ensuring everyone is aware that this very generous donation is from Burger Eats and all of the gratitude goes towards them.

This afternoon, the owner and I spent a few hours together and paid a visit to a cash and carry. After we quickly reached the £300 mark, the owner of Burger Eats (I'm intentionally not naming him as I got the vibe he might not want that info out there. However, I'm happy to edit this later if I'm advised he's happy to be mentioned by name), out of the blue said "lets make it £400" as there was still a few items on the list that wasn't yet on our trolley.

After we stacked the trolley high (and it fell over), the total at the till ended up reaching around £425. He didn't bat an eye and was more than happy with the bill total and the sheer amount of food, household and sanitary products we were able to get.

Then to top it off, he disappears for a few minutes to speak to the manager and comes back with another trolley with even more stuff being donated to the cause by Booker Middleton.

We donated it all to The Lighthouse Project this afternoon and I'm absolutely certain its going to help a lot of families out over the winter period. There's quite a few sweet treats included too as who doesn't like a chocolate or some biscuits over Christmas?

Morning folks, this'll be the last post about it as the funds will need to be withdrawn soon and we're just £50 short of the target 😄!

Can you spare a few quid to help your Mancunian neighbours who might rely on a local food bank to survive the winter period?

People shouldn't need to choose between a warm house or a warm meal, so this fundraiser has been organised to try and help with that and keep the food bank at Lighthouse Project stocked up with the essentials and help those that rely on this service to get by.

Anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated! A donation as little as £1 could buy a few packets of soup, so every little helps (not intentionally copying Tesco's slogan here).

Anyone know what the new prices look like? That was really my only critisism on the video review I did with DFR.

If the prices had been a little more reasonabl when we were there, it might have scored a little higher and entered the exclusive 9+ club.
