The Food and Drugs Administration has modified the emergency use authorization for coronavirus vaccines to include the administration of a second booster shot for all senior citizens, immunocompromised individuals and frontline healthcare workers. According to the Department of Health, there should be at least four months between booster doses.

13 April 2022 (Wednesday)—LGU CHIEF EXEC SAYS LEYTE VILLAGE BURIED IN LANDSLIDE. Baybay, Leyte town mayor Jose Carlo Cari said that the village of Cantagnos was buried in a landslide in the aftermath of tropical storm ‘Agaton’. There were about 210 households in Cantagnos but some residents were able to escape unharmed. 35 people died, 105 were injured and 27 are still missing in Baybay alone.

9 April 2022 (Saturday)—DAILY COVID CASE COUNT STABILIZES, MORE AREAS UNDER ALERT LEVEL 1. The Department of Health (DOH) reported that the daily number of coronavirus cases across the country has plateaued in the last four days averaging at 200. The DOH said that this could go down further, with the positivity rate also lower 1.8%. Meanwhile, the Mountain Province, Southern Leyte, Misamis Oriental, as well as Buguias in Benguet, Atimonan and Tiaong in Quezon, Sta. Magdalena in Sorsogon, Masbate City in Masbate, Batad and Zarraga in Iloilo, Talisay City in Cebu, Javier and La Paz in Leyte, Maslog in Eastern Samar, Paranas in Samar, Linamon in Lanao del Norte, Calamba in Misamis Occidental, Padada in Davao del Sur, Sibagat in Agusan del Sur, and Tubajon and Cagdianao in Dinagat Islands are now placed under Alert Level 1 further easing restrictions in the country which has been in lockdown for the longest period in the world.

The Philippine Statistics Authority reported an inflation rate of 4% in March 2022, 1% higher than the previous month. In general, inflation means an increase in prices of goods and services. As the cost of living increases, however, the proposed wage hike of ₱470 was rejected by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board. The RTWPB is considering the petition for a lower hike of ₱250, while the Secretary of Labor pushes for a wage subsidy of ₱5,000 for minimum wage earners.

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board rejected the petition for a ₱470 wage increase. Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections will soon decide on the request of the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board to exempt fuel subsidies for drivers from the election ban on public spending.

Calculations based on the cost swings of the regional pricing benchmark Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS) put the rollback at ₱2.50 to ₱2.70 per liter for gasoline and ₱2.00 to ₱2.20 per liter for diesel.
