Tim Burton has dropped the ball many times to be inclusive in his movies but I’m really happy to finally see a spooky stop animation with a black lead and I’m happy to hear that Jordan Peele is the director for the film.

⛔️⚠️Warning spoilers ⚠️ ⛔️

While I’m not entirely surprised I do have an unpopular opinion. I actually think they should have went ahead with a second season. I love Resident Evil and I’m a fan til I die and while it didn’t get a lot of hype and a lot of fans didnt like it, I think they could have worked around it. The main issue with this adaptation of Resident Evil was they didn’t care about the writing and focused to hard on having meme worthy content. The writing was focused on a lot of “edgy” jokes(insert zootopia p**n joke). It felt more like a melodrama between two sisters who got along but as they grew up and drifted apart there was a lot of resentment and to spice it up they decided to drop a zombie or two in random situations just in case you forgot it was a show based on zombies and it did fall short. The acting was great but there is so much you can do with a poorly written script. Did it follow the video games? No, but the Resident Evil movies with Mila Jovovich didn’t either but they had good writing to back them up. While they could have taken the criticism and came back stronger with better writing, Netflix decided to do what Netflix does best and cancelled it. At this point Netflix is cancelling a lot of shows that deserve not only a second season but better writers and it’s quite disappointing. I had a lot up hope for this show and I hope Netflix decides to get it together very soon.
