Ating Tingnyek Konyak announces retirement from football after 18-year- career
SportsLIVE Nagaland:
Nagaland football midfielder maestro Tingnyek Konyak has announced his official retirement from football after playing the inter-district Dr. T Ao Trophy as his last match, against Peren district in the semifinals. He said, "And with this, I hang up my boots. 18 years of a footballing career: No major injury, No health issues, Won many, Lost some. #To God be the Glory," to SportsLIVE Nagaland.
It was a heartbreaking scene at Tuensang when his team was defeated by Peren, despite leading by a goal. Peren overturned the score in the second half. Konyak was inconsolable with the defeat and shed tears like never before while leaving the pitch, feeling as though the entire district was against him. Despite giving his best performance, it wasn’t enough for the team to qualify for the final match. The tears in his eyes were even more emotional because it was his last match for the district, and he left with the regret of not being able to lead his team to the inter-district T Ao success. Konyak was one of the best footballers produced by the district, and it will surely take time to find a replacement for him in his position. His 18-year playing career was a glamorous one, decorated with trophies.
Speaking to SportsLIVE Nagaland, he said, "It’s sad, really sad, but we have to move on and face new challenges." He further expressed hope to hone his coaching skills, as he already has a D license under his belt.
Reflecting on his last tournament for the district, he said, "I feel honored and privileged to have played in the most prestigious tournament in Nagaland, and to have led my district is a dream come true." He also recalled, "Along the way, I met so many incredible people. I will forever cherish every single moment I shared with my teammates, both on and off the field."
He added that he has no regrets, saying, "It is the game I love the most." To aspiring footballer
At the moment, the score line is Mon 1 - 0 Peren.

BRIEF ABOUT RIVER BARAK : PEREN
The originating point of river Barak begins from south direction of Liyai Khullen village located in the border of Nagaland & Manipur and flows down to Peren Nagaland and Barak river which is located at Assam -Manipur border. This river takes the sharp turn and flows westward from Silchar to Bangladesh. This river is divided into two parts in Bangladesh, the northern branch is known as Surma and the southern branch is known as Kushiyara. But again there is a confluence of Surma and Kushiyara and due to this, a branch of Brahmaputra joins Ganga Brahmaputra and delta is formed. Apart from this, this river is navigable in India and that is why in 2016, the river between Lakhipur and Bhanga has been declared as National waterways-6.
