Thurin is an elvish cleric and a pampered rich boy from one of the wealthiest families in Bastion City. A student at Bastion University, he is enrolled through a military scholarship, having enlisted at the command of his father to uphold family traditions of civic pride and patriotism, and to do so as visibly as possible. Tall, blonde-headed, blue-eyed, and square-jawed, Thurin is every inch the picture-perfect son that his parents and younger siblings require him to be…or at least so he appears on the surface. And in a family like his, that’s all that matters.

Fargus is a Firbolg Artificer native to Bastion City…or rather the land that Bastion City now inhabits, for as his people were generationally bonded to the lush grove that used to thrive in that land, the grove, much like the other members of his family, was killed for the glory of a government he hates with all his heart. Fargus is a double-amputee, having lost his hands in a barbaric display of “justice” carried out by the Paladins of Bastion City. In an act of defiance, Fargus built himself new hands, and seeks to do the same for others who have been trodden upon and cast into the outer slums of this hollow metropolis.

Obern is a Tortle druid from a village along the northwestern coast in the nation of Bastion. In times long past, the Tortle villages of the coast served as the first line of defense of the nation of Bastion against invaders, but those in power have long since forgotten the service and sacrifice of the Tortles. Obern grew up with multiple siblings, including a bronze dragonborn sister named Kolki. He’s utterly no nonsense with a lack of patience for societal hierarchy and frivolous niceties. He’s never been one who cared for upholding the establishment, and he’s damn sure not going to start now.

This world is full of adventure
The world is full of new people, places, and things
And so I set out on this venture
I have walked through forests, mountains, and springs
I will not be restricted to just one corner of it
I must see it all
I will be strong and not quit
I will answer the earth's call
I must experience something new
I must meet new friends who think differently than me
I must learn the what, when, where, and who
With my friends, the wonders we will see
Friends who might even look differently than me
Who speak differently than me
Maybe I'll meet someone from across the sea
Whoever I meet adds to my knowledge, I guarantee
A new perspective is what I seek
A lack of experience has made me weak
I study nature with an open-minded technique
I see all the beauty, danger, and mystique
My mind gets stronger with ever step I take
My home is dear to me, but it cannot teach me who I was meant to be
For the first time in my life, I feel like my mind is awake
I indulge my need to be wild and free

I know not why I was chosen
A being split into two
It feels like a new part of me has awoken
All thanks to you

All of my compassion shoved deep down at this betrayal
This tragedy that I am forced to move past
If this is my coffin then you were the nail
Our perfect existence gone in a flash

I seek guidance from another
Someone stronger than who I am currently
Someone who can avenge my mother
Someone who can provide for my family more assuredly

Someone who could handle this pain
I just wish I could be someone else
Someone who can escape these god forsaken plains
And so I look within myself

That's who I'll become
The twin that I have found within
They answered when we looked for someone
They won't cry when they see his face again

This is the crossroads
The destruction of my past has carved out my future
This is when I leave my homes
I will become my own tutor

So goodbye to what family I have left
Goodbye to the version of me that I'm leaving behind
Into the unknown I have leapt
To each other please be kind
I will travel for many moons
But I will see you again someday soon
