Being vulnerable can be emotionally exhausting. It feels like you are handing your heart over and sharing all the dark corners that you want so desperately to keep tucked away in hopes that they will just go away. But being vulnerable is also beautiful in that it brings healing and light to those dark places.
Mindy, owner of Adorned Accents, has a powerful testimony about her journey through very dark, difficult times and how cracking it all open gave her the opportunity to let in the light and begin the healing.

In an ideal world there would be daily peace, perfect health, harmony, happiness, sunshine and rainbows. People would look out for each other and quickly accept rather than judge. There would be no more cancer, chronic illnesses, or suffering of any kind. If only…

I know you don’t need me to tell you that we do not live in a perfect world - far from it, unfortunately. So when life throws curve balls that knock us off course, how do we press on with a heart full of joy instead of fear and sadness? How do we continue on in our rough waters when the whole world is seemingly sailing by smoothly? How do we keep moving forward when we feel stuck?

If you struggle with this like I do, i hope you will listen to this weeks episode with Lauren of . Her passion for creating meaningful and powerful designs bloomed at a time when life felt pretty dark; a time of letting go of the path she had planned and accepting the path God had planned for her. Lauren’s designs are, quite literally, messages of hope. Despite being diagnosed with a chronic illness in her teens, she wakes up every morning with the determination to make the most of her day. She shares with us her method of creating margins in her day - carving out time in her morning and evening (like bookends for her day) that are dedicated to routines that bring her joy. Lauren radiates peace, compassion, and kindness. Her joy is contagious - she is a truly beautiful soul.

Briana talks about the importance of remembering to fill up your own cup - after all, you can’t pour from an empty cup! She fills her cup through creating handcrafted, genuine leather baby and toddler shoes and bags. She found what she loved and made a life doing it!
For many people it is not realistic for their career to be the thing that fills their cup and that is okay! You can’t spend every day all day doing things you love! It is, however, important to find something that does and carve out some time during your week to devote to it. Whatever fills your cup deserves a space in your life. When you make that a priority, just watch and see how much you can pour out to others with gratitude and grace.

It’s finally time! The leap of faith we decided to take back in October is coming to fruition this week! We could not be more excited to launch the pilot episode for our podcast, making a life!
This podcast was a dream placed in both our hearts, separately, many years ago. As God always does, he found a way to bring us together and make our dreams become a reality. While we have had some obstacles on this journey, we know this is the path he has chosen for us.
That’s the thing about living out God’s will…he doesn’t promise it will be easy, but it will absolutely be worth it. Even amidst the chaos there will be an undeniable peace in your heart.
Why, you might ask, did we decide to create making a life podcast? First and foremost, we wanted to be able to make a deeper connection for you, our listeners, and the makers at The Local. We want you to hear the unique journeys, including hills and valleys, that have landed each person in our shops. We want you to find hope when dreams seem too far out of reach. We want you to take your leap of faith and we want to support you as you do it!
