Q: How’d you get here?
A: I knew I wanted to live in Manhattan & work in fashion. I viewed the city as a place of endless opportunity, & I still do. In college I landed my first internship for editor & celebrity stylist Audree Lopez. From there on I began styling editorial photoshoots & truly found myself as a person. My styling work was then featured in Vogue Italia, which led to me landing my first client on Broadway. Then COVID-19 hit & I was suddenly unemployed & moving back home. I was cleaning out my vintage tees & thought that two specific Guns & Roses tees would look so much better together as one. I cut them up & sewed them together. I immediately took to social media (like any Gen-Z would) to post it & suddenly I had dozens of people asking to buy it. Long story short... that's how my clothing brand Undone by Kate was born!

Q: What project are you most proud of?
A: My latest design which is an upcycled corset top. It’s a street-style version of vintage corsetry. It takes about 3 hours to make 1 top & is constructed from vintage designer pieces.

Q: What’s your first thought when you wake up?
A: S**t I have so much to do today.

Q: What project are you most proud of?
A: I’m really proud of the BLM series I did over the summer. I painted Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor & Tony McDade. Those paintings were extremely triggering and difficult to paint since I was creating them as I learned about their killings. I would finish the painting and spend the rest of the night crying because it was so difficult to process.

Q: What’s one of your colossal failures?
A: No failures, only learning experiences.

Q: When you're feeling uninspired & in a creative rut what do you do?
A: I try not to dwell on it. I’ll look at art, listen to new music & read books as a way to keep my mind working & learning. The important thing to remember is that inspiration is an ebb & flow. It always comes back.
