Here we have a capitalist’s solution to the housing problem. Instead of making rent more affordable or expanding inventory, they went with this: a single house for 14 people to sleep in bunk beds, sharing a kitchen and two bathrooms.
So what they basically did was build a college dorm and label it “housing innovation.” For $800 a month! At that point, you’re better off renting a three bedroom two bathroom apartment and splitting it with five other people. At least you’re just sharing a room with one other person, and you might even be paying less, depending on where you live.
Let’s do better.
The co-living concept from Brownstone Shared Housing currently has two locations: one in Palo Alto, and another in Bakersfield.
