The City of Fort Lauderdale is issuing a precautionary advisory for water-related recreational activities as a result of a sewer overflow that occurred in the vicinity of 10 South New River Drive East. Repairs to the pipe are currently being made and are expected to be completed tomorrow.

The waterway advisory is in effect for the New River between SW Flagler Avenue and SE 3rd Avenue.

The general boundaries for the advisory are as follows:

• North: North bank of New River
• South: South bank of New River
• East: SE 3rd Avenue
• West: SW Flagler Avenue

Swimming, fishing, jet-skiing, paddle-boarding, kayaking, canoeing or engaging in any water-related activities should be avoided within the advisory area.

The precautionary advisory for water-related recreational activities will remain in effect until further notice.
