How can a BIRTH DOULA support a NICU family?
•
First and foremost, education is key. Make sure that the family knows their rights when it comes to the care of their baby.
•
Encourage them to be present as much as possible for diaper changes, feeding time, skin to skin etc… these activities will provide bonding.
•
Provide the many resources available to NICU families and learn what’s available in your county. Some grants will pay for gas cards, food cards etc.
•
