When we first started booking the headliner for this event, we had it a different artist in mind from Canada but last minute it didn’t work out so we had to pivot quickly. Noer was the obvious answer for a GOOD DARK Halloween bass vibe.
Funny story, Noah and I have worked together at the very start of Sonic Convergence’s humble beginnings and he is a core component of why I started this journey.
During Covid, we couldn’t do live events. My partner at the time and I had indifferences about how we should operate the company we started together. He wanted to do illegal/unsafe underground events, and I didn’t. My sister has down syndrome, and if I were to bring Covid to her, she would at least be hospitalized, which was not an option.
So instead, I figured out a solution to do live events on stage with no crowd and stream them. I booked, marketed and operated these shows myself. With the help of my good friends at Olympus Presents, Wormhole Entertainment, Electric Hawk and Wtf’s That Sound, and DiemT Visuals we made something very special! Something that connected everybody together through Music, without actually being physically together
Hence the birth of Sonic Convergence 🖤

Meet prodigious beatmaker, Joe Matheny. Known better by his stage persona Matheny Music. Joe is a budding bass producer from Huntsville, Alabama with a bright path ahead of him.

The Matheny project is the culmination of a lifetime of musical background. Matheny grew up playing piano and trapping hip-hop beats for clients around the south east. In 2016, Matheny started experimenting with electronic bass music, and in late 2017, the Matheny music project was born with the goal of turning the spotlight towards the underground, and creating a community of good, music-loving people.
Matheny mixes dark, experimental bass and heavy, energetic trap seamlessly with his hip-hop/rap influences. His musical prowess and sound design have demanded attention from labels like Madzoo, Wavecraft Collective, Electric Hawk, and more. Matheny has also been supported on ZEDS DEAD’s DeadBeats Radio with his track “Everybody Know”, off his debut EP, “YES”.
Whether it’s working on his side project ‘Ides’ with longtime friend Ewox, or growing his own discography, Matheny is continuously breaking barriers and expectations with his music.
This underground artist is soon to be a leader in the experimental bass scene.

His musical talents stem from his years as a metal drummer and performer, after which Konka made a natural progression into dance music with his discovery of drum & bass and dubstep mid 2010. Ever since, his productions have set the bar high among his peers. Earning himself residencies at Vancouver’s top bass music nights, including Digital Motion BC Subculture Saturdays.
