Rahul Gandhi nominated to be leader of India’s opposition

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s chief rival Rahul Gandhi was nominated on Saturday to lead India’s opposition in parliament after an election result that rescued his party from the political wilderness.

Modi will be sworn into office for a third term this weekend following a poll that deprived his ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of a majority, forcing it to rely on coalition allies to govern.

Gandhi defied analysts’ expectations and exit polls to help his Congress party nearly double its parliamentary numbers, its best result since Modi was swept to power a decade ago.

A meeting of the Congress leadership on Saturday voted unanimously to recommend Gandhi’s election as India’s official opposition leader, a post that had been left vacant since 2014.

“All participants unanimously passed the resolution that Rahul Gandhi should take the position of leader of opposition in the parliament,” K.C. Venugopal told a press conference after a meeting of the party’s executive.-AN

The ongoing protests by truck drivers at many places in Maharashtra and Punjab against the new hit-and-run provision have triggered panic buying among two-wheelers and four-wheelers riders, prompting long queues outside petrol pumps. Long queues were seen outside petrol pumps in Nagpur, Thane, Jalgaon, and Dhulia in Maharashtra as people waited for their turns to fill the tankers of their vehicles, visuals showed.

Telangana: Women clash with each other in TSRTC bus in Zaheerabad

A video of multiple women landing blows on each other in a TSRTC bus surfaced online on Monday, January 1.

In the thirty second clip, a child can be seen crying as she came in between two fighting women.

Other passengers on the bus had to get involved to break the scuffle.

TSRTC has been in the news for its new Mahalakshmi scheme under which, women and transgender persons can travel for free across the state of Telangana.

Hyderabad restaurant waiters attack customers; Raja Singh seeks action

In an incident that occurred in a restaurant in Hyderabad, waiters allegedly attacked customers with sticks at midnight on December 31. Following the incident, Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh spoke to the inspector of Abids police and demanded an FIR against the waiters and owners of the restaurant.

Threatening to set ablaze the restaurant, Raja Singh asked the police to arrest the waiters and owner.

As per sources, the incident took place after eight people ate food and refused to pay.

Hyderabad police registered a case against the restaurant under IPC sections 324, 504, and 509.

Meanwhile, the restaurant management also filed a complaint. Police are investigating the case.

nearest MeeSeva Centre.

2. Navigate to MeeSeva Service Forms, Under the Civil Supplies Department option, click on
“Application for New Food Security Card.” OR use this link to download the application

3. Take print out of the application.

4. Fill the form with necessary details such as your name, age, gender, father’s name, address,
mobile number, qualifications, district, region, family members, total family income, etc.

5. Gather the necessary documents, such as a copy of the original resident proof, Aadhaar card,
and a passport-sized photograph.

6. Take the completely filled application form and required documents to the nearest MeeSeva
centre.

7. Submit the application form along with the prescribed fee at the MeeSeva centre.
8. and take acknowledgment slip for future reference.

Telangana Logs 12 Fresh COVID-19 Cases In A Single Day

A total of 12 Covid positive cases were reported in Telangana on Saturday, December 23, which has taken the overall number of active cases to 38, ever since the new corona virus variant of JN.1 was reported.

Out of the 12 positive cases, 9 cases were from Hyderabad, one each from Rangareddy, Sangareddy, and Warangal districts, the Covid bulletin released by the health department said.
