The first ever 2-way pager was released by Motorola in 1995. Called the "Tango", this device introduced the world to 2-way paging, which revolutionized paging communications.

2-way paging devices are still used today in the healthcare industry due to their ability to integrate seamlessly with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and other hospital systems while also being compliant with , the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which mandates strict security and privacy standards for healthcare communication.
